  Job Summary There’s never been a more exciting time to be on the Enterprise Data Analytics team at Charles River Labs! We are on a mission to make the Enterprise Data Analytics team be the backbone of today’s business, as data-driven decision-making enables business leaders to make informed choices quickly to boost revenue, improve productivity, and stay a step ahead of the market. We have already launched our own Enterprise Data Hub, the digital backbone of this company, and we need more leaders in the data analytics discipline who are forward thinking, self-guided and innovative to continue to build out the hub across our lines of business, integrating all of our data, mastering data and focusing on data quality to fundamentally shift the way Charles River operates through data science and advanced analytics.

Our collective focus over the coming, multi-year journey is to enable this extraordinary group of people - our 18,000 colleagues - to execute and achieve our ambitious business goals.  We are taking Charles River to a place where Enterprise Data Analytics team will be applying the techniques of data management, data engineering, and strategy development, as well as the use of analytics techniques that range from forecasting and simulation to linear programming and optimization and we want you to join us.

•    You want to be on the ground floor of projects, being an active listener as well as a good partner who brings thoughtful solutions to the team as you will work closely with the Data Engineering team and DataOps team to drive Data Quality and process improvements. The following are responsibilities related to the Sr. Data Governance Analyst:  

•    Partners with stakeholders in developing and implementing data standards and driving user adoption

•    Identify, train and enable data and stewards, and develop governance framework together with business teams to nurture a culture of accountability for complete & accurate data

•    Work with Internal Controls and IT Security teams to standardize compliance processes for data management

•    Develop data quality and master data standards, KPIs & ensure adherence

•    Create and maintain data catalog to support data standards for an organization.

•    Generate dashboards and periodic reports for data quality and compliance metrics; identify and implement processes to improve on these matrices

•    Identify gaps in master data management and governance, develop and gain alignment to future state framework and work with key stakeholders to implement new sustainable methodology

•    Work with Change Management and  project teams to instill a culture that views data as critical and value added to the business

•    Actively champion master data best practices and disseminate to the team to drive performance

•    Lead the development of data governance practices to successfully operationalize data quality, manage master data and reference data, and leverage Best in Class data management practices.

•    Ensure master data is clean, relevant, and complete, as per the data governance standards.

•    Develop exceptional, accountable relationships with key stakeholders

  Job Qualifications  

•    Bachelor’s or master’s degree from accredited university in Computer Science, Data Management, Business Administration or equivalent program. 

•    7+ years of relevant experience in Data Management, Data Governance, Data Quality Management.

•    5+ years of experience in data governance process creation and standardization

•    7+ years of experience in writing SQL queries, data mining, data profiling, data validation/testing, and database modeling principles

•    5+ years of experience in master data in enterprise CRM and ERP systems focusing on Customer Master, Vendor Master, Material Master & Pricing

•    An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.

•    Demonstrated proven success in solving fundamental and highly challenging issues in terms of why data is captured, how is data integrated between business functions and systems, how data is organized, how it is leveraged, what tools and technologies if deployed could maximize leverage and how to define & implement data governance

•    Proven ability to translate data governance requirements into business outcomes

•    Demonstrated collaboration skills with change management concepts & strategies enacting best in class data management practices that achieve the goal of treating data as a corporate asset

•    Strong communication skills in order to partner with internal and external stakeholders to achieve the

company’s financial goals

•    Ability to identify and engage stakeholders to leverage data through non-invasive data governance practices

•    Strong project management skills in order to manage daily operations and or monitor the success of projects 

 

The following are strongly desired:

 

•    Agile experience particularly as Certified Scrum Master or Product Owner

•    Certified Data Steward

•    Willingness to help mature Agile practices for the team and lead some ceremonies such as standups, sprint planning, sprint retrospectives, and backlog grooming

•    Experience in Life Sciences industry with master data and analytics solutions

•    Strong intellectual curiosity, eager to learn new technologies and adapt solutions.
