Home based in the EU or the US SUMMARYTo set direction, lead and line manage a team of Site Identification Leads or Site Identification Managers, as assigned, to ensure consistency of Site Identification delivery and process during all stages of the Site Identification process and to ensure consistent and high quality delivery across the group.To act as subject matter expert in Site Identification process for internal and external customers alike and to provide strategic input to Team members, Project teams, Business Development and to Sponsors. To keep abreast of current trends within Site Identifications and to actively identify and engage new and niche vendors such as specialist networks as appropriate to maintaining ICON's competiveness.To Lead/Drive process improvement initiatives for the Site Identification group, in order to improve quality and timelines taking into account lessons learnt from ongoing projectsSupport the development of long term strategic partnerships with sponsors, vendors and internal stakeholders alike.Act as Therapeutic Area Subject Matter Expert ( SME) within Site Identification Department, as appropriate or as assigned JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIESTo lead a team of Site Identification Leads or Site Identification Managers, as assigned, to ensure consistency of Site Identification delivery and process and to ensure all team/department goals, as assigned are met.Oversee day to day management of personnel assigned to ensure that the study is being conducted in accordance with that plan and in an effective manner, meeting ICON/sponsor timelines and expectations and in adherence with ICON/client KPIs, ICON/client SOPs, reporting norms, appropriate regulations and ICON's quality standards.Ensure effective resource planning and allocation to studies, including recruitment of high performing staff, line management of personnel, ensuring and providing adequate training and training compliance, mentorship/coaching, career progression and succession planning.Proactively manage the studies and personnel assigned, quickly identifying barriers to success and defining strategies and mitigation plans to ensure prompt return to successful performance where required.Provide effective management support to the resources and continue to encourage a high performing culture within the teams. Carry out all relevant line management responsibilities including appraisals, goal setting and development plans.Agreeing and ensuring delivery of high quality performance and performance measurements.Ensure effective utilization and recovery of resources within assigned team. The candidate will be aligned, as much as possible, with the conduct of relevant Site Selection services related to the given area of expertise, which may include being the main point of contact for designated strategic partners for the conduct of Site Selection servicesAct as a subject matter expert in relation to Site Selection for team, internal/external clients, whether based on ICON SOPs or Strategic Business Processes for key clientsProvide strategic input to Business Development, Operations and to Sponsors and to be an expert resource to teamsLead/Drive process improvement initiatives for the Site Selection group, in order to improve quality and timelines taking into account lessons learnt from ongoing projects. Ensure new initiatives are rolled-out and followed through.Optimise operational efficiency through sharing & centralisation of information and promotion of best practice within the sub-team and the wider group. Effectively manage change and drive innovation and continuous improvement in all areas of responsibilityLiaise with other sub groups within the Study Start up department or cross functionally to ensure an integrated start up plan, consistency and improvement of processCommunicate openly and effectively with direct line-manager on all critical issues, business growth opportunities and prepare/review status reports versus client deliverables taking appropriate actions.If assigned, plan the site identification process for awarded studies, having conducted appropriate handover from the assigned feasibility manager from proposal stage and to liaise with the Study Start up manager/Lead to ensure an integrated start up planDevelop Strategy, Site Profile and Protocol Study Specific Requirements, Feasibility questionnaire/synopsis, ranking plan specific to each protocol for discussion/approval with the project team/Sponsor.Conduct evidence based analysis at the end of the Site Selection (or during if interim analysis required), to come up with proposed site and country scenarios/plans and proposed recruitment rates, as well as any other recommendations for presentation/discussion with Sponsor/Project team.Ensure that all data collected in the support of Site Selection or feasibility (where site contact is required) is of high quality, accurate and fully documented in ICON's systems.Preparation of internal project information to support ad hoc requests for information from clientsPreparation for, and attend, client meetings as required, to ensure that the services of the group are clearly presented and used to support strategic project planning.To be accountable for delivery on time, on budget and managing the hours of all staff associated with Site Selection services assigned to the candidate.Deliver high quality standards and strive for excellence; Act in a proactive, flexible and responsive manner to both internal and external customer needsTo undertake other reasonably related duties as my be assigned from time to time

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Have a background in medicine, science or other relevant discipline with substantial international experience in clinical drug development across a broad range of therapeutic areas * US/CAN/LATAM: At least 7 years industry. * EU/APAC- Proven experience in a health care or a clinical research environment Proven industry experience with some experience in project planning in addition to a minimum of 2 years' experience across a broad range of therapeutic areas as a manager and I or project manager. * Excellent communicator, both in written and spoken language.Able to produce reports and project plans to a high standard in addition to being able to review the quality and content of reports produced by the Recruitment planning Team. Fluent in English is essential * Intermediate skills in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint, advanced skills are preferred, particularly for Excel * Highly developed organizational and analytical skills, with the ability to prioritize time-sensitive tasks and work independently * Due to the nature of this position it may be required for the employee to travel.
