Job Summary Maintains and monitors the health and physical environment of animals involving complex instructions and requiring technical expertise. Assists veterinary staff in the documentation and triage of all laboratory animal health cases, and in administering treatment to animals. May also perform anesthesia, surgery, enrichment and behavioral tasks and technical in-life procedures. May also support IACUC/Ethics Committee including animal welfare regulatory compliance and related government/external funding agency requirements.

The following are responsibilities related to theIACUC Administrator :

Coordinate and facilitate IACUC activities across involved teams in support of SA-SEN research programs. Oversee management of IACUC Coordinators at SA-SEN. Work in collaboratively with other CRL SA regional IACUC committees. Identify deficiencies and recommend solutions for record management as it pertains to the Animal Care Program. Identify opportunities for process improvements for the site including all points of interaction to help maintain compliance with requirements. In conjunction with IACUC Chair and Attending Veterinarian generate and revise IACUC Policies. Develop, cultivate and maintain working relationship with internal and external groups/departments, agencies and other organizations associated with program.

The following are minimum qualifications related to theIACUC Administrator position:

• Education: Bachelor's degree (B.A. /B.S.) with considerable knowledge of relevant animal welfare guidelines and an understanding of drug development process and OECD guidelines. Management training or experience also preferred.

• Experience: 5 or more years relative experience. Experience working in a laboratory animal environment preferred.

• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.

• CCAC and AAALAC membership beneficial.
