Associate Director - Cloud Engineering Delivery

Job Purpose:

As the Associate Director of Cloud Engineering Delivery, you will lead the Platform & Deployment Engineering Teams which supply our R&D Engineering development teams & our Solution Deployment teams with flawless and predicable execution of the cloud platform. We are building a global cloud offering which operates under GxP regulations yet still must be able to offer a very high degree of repeatably through automation & orchestration.

The Platform Engineering team is focused on the Azure Cloud evaluation & innovation, building out the policies, standards and templates for use globally for all our Technology enable services including the instantiation of Azure in China. Strategic tooling services such as platform wide configuration management, orchestration and integrations into other key systems such as ServiceNow form key areas for this team.

Our Deployment Engineering Team, work hand in hand with the R&D Solution Groups to bring the market led features to fruition through providing & improving the CI/CD lifecycle which suits the product. Building out end to end solution automation & orchestration.

You will be seen as a subject matter expert and will be expected to evidence the collaborative and leadership behaviours that support working in a team with architects, principle developers, R&D delivery managers, IT Engineering and Quality as well as evolving and implementing the standards defined within the Cloud competency.

Significant experience in technology operations as you will drive the build & delivery culture that supports a ‘design for service’ outcome working closely with the Associate Director of Site Reliability Engineering. Knowledge of SRE will be beneficial in supporting this outcome.

• Drive metrics and discipline to make everything production reliable

• Providing education of cloud and emerging technologies across the organisation

• Ensuring deliveries meet with stakeholder requirements & timelines

• FinOps cost & consumption approach to cloud

• Capturing and managing demand against capacity and skills to meet with the needs of our stakeholders

This may require you to work outside of normal business hours providing support to the development and support functions.

Key ResponsibilitiesStrategy & ArchitectureProvides advice, guidance and expertise to promote adoption of methods and tools and adherence to policies and standards. Evaluates and selects appropriate methods and tools in line with agreed policies and standards.Actively maintains recognised expert level knowledge in one or more identifiable specialisms.Development and implementationDefines systems development projects which support the organisation's objectives and plans.Delivery & OperationEnsures that service delivery meets agreed service levels. Creates and maintains a catalogue of available services. In consultation with the customer negotiates service level requirements and agrees service levels.Engages with technical design and project managers or Project Management Office, to ensure correct products are produced, in a timely fashion.Qualifications

Skills & Experience:Microsoft Azure PaaS & IaaS, Office365 & PowerApps delivery & management experience – beneficialEngineering team management across different countries & cultures - essentialManaging complex and client driven demand across a global engineering team – highly desirableGood understanding of CI/CD pipeline build, improvement and management - essentialExposure to configuration management and orchestration tools across cloud and traditional technologies – highly desirable, can be competentExposure to system and application level telemetry for large distributed & micro services cloud architectures – highly desirableUnderstanding of building cloud services within regulated environments will be beneficial, experience in a regulated industry is essential (banking, financial services)Experience & knowledge of common CICD tools such as: Azure DevOps, Octopus Deploy, TeamCity, Jenkins, Ansible, Mercurial, BitBucket. Knowledge, Education & Experience:Degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science field, or equivalent or has performed at a Systems Engineer or Cloud Engineer for a minimum of 3 yearsMicrosoft Azure Certifications would be of benefitExcellent knowledge of ITIL V3 or V4, Foundation certification – very beneficial
