Job Summary

We are seeking an Animal Support Technician 2 for our Insourcing Solutions Department based at our facility in Springhouse, PA.

In the Animal Support Technician 2 role, you can do that by maintaining the health and well-being of all the animals on-site, which directly contributes towards the integrity of the research.    

What you will do!

As the ASTII, you will maintain and monitor the health, production, and physical environment within our client animal facility. Perform animal care and husbandry, to include daily equipment checks; providing appropriate food and water; performing cage changing and/or cage cleaning; recording animal health concerns, cage wash duties and sanitation and basic technical skills. Provide environmental enrichment appropriate to species and support to other client's lab animal facilities in the Philadelphia area.

You may also be tasked with the following:

  • Perform post-surgical observations and associated record keeping.
  • Perform basic technical skills such as fasting, body weights and food/water measurements.
  • Perform animal identification (ear notching, tattooing, microchips).
  • May set up breeding pairs, perform plug checks, conduct weaning and collecting samples for genotyping; maintain colony records.
  • Train to perform rodent dosing such PO, IP, SQ and topical. 

Other duties will include receiving, inspecting, and housing incoming animals in addition, reviewing, comprehend and complying with all SOPs and quality assurance standards pertaining to specific area.

What are we looking for?

Candidate will possess:High School Diploma required; Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science, Biology or Biological Science preferred. AMinimum of Twelve months related laboratory/research animal husbandry and basic technical experience. AALAS certification at the Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician level (ALAT) preferred.    

The pay for this position is $23.00 - $25.00 per hour.  Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
