Position Summary:

The Production Process & Analytics Business Unit (PPA) in Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking a passionate Sr. Financial Analyst to join the finance team. The Sr. Financial Analyst will have a substantial role in Annual Operating Plan (AOP), Month and Quarter end close and reports, and partner with business partners and functional leads to drive overall improvement within the business unit to ensure that financial commitments are met.

Responsibilities include:

  • Be an influential member of the PPA finance team, prepare business reviews (MBR/ QBR) by working together with business partners and functional leads and meet deadlines as well as deliver complete and accurate analysis.
  • Partner with functional leaders to provide reporting, forecasting and analysis in areas such as revenue, cost of sales, operating expenses, backlog and headcount. Support ad-hoc internal, division, group, and corporate requests as needed.
  • Partner with the segment GM and functional leads across the business and division to drive financial execution, accountability, risk mitigation and cost control to achieve planned results.
  • Support to Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and Strategic Planning (STRAP) deliverables.
  • Proactively identify, develop, and implement improvements to existing reporting processes using the PPI business system.
  • Streamline routine analysis, identify improvement opportunities to automate and build leverage.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance or Business Administration
  • 5+ years of direct experience in financial analysis, reporting, and accounting preferably within a large, matrixed organization
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments, exercise good judgement, and prioritize projects and time effectively
  • Commitment to continuous learning, career progression and development, embrace additional responsibilities and seek opportunities to stretch capabilities
  • Excel expertise with strong knowledge of pivots, charts, formulas and modelling
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of people
  • Self-motivated; bias for action
  • Effective oral and written communication skills when dealing with all levels within an organization
  • Comfort operating within matrix organizations
