A Day in the Life:

General - The incumbent is faced with the challenge of continually reprioritizing to meet production schedules and assigned project deadlines while maintaining production costs.

Personnel - The incumbent is faced with the challenge of ensuring all personnel have been adequately trained on the equipment and procedures.  Developing and coaching of key staff is also a responsibility in this role.

Conduct Performance Management Process (PMP) with Technologists, Material Handler and Equipment Cleaner. 

Documentation - The incumbent is faced with the challenge of ensuring that proper documentation practices are followed.  This involves ensuring Standard Operating Procedures and BOM’s accurately reflect the process, training records are kept up to date, investigations are detailed, and safety/Good Manufacturing Process issues are addressed.

  • Assist / Troubleshoot problems and participate in resolution of issues as they arise on the shift. (5%)
  • Daily scheduling of area personnel by referring to the master production schedule. (45%)
  • Monitor employee performance and provide feed back to respective manager as required. (5%)
  • Recommend procedural changes and efficiency improvements for the area. Continually auditing of area to ensure GMP/safety compliant. (5%)
  • Provide training and mentorship to manufacturing staff. (25%)
  • Participate in the recruitment process for new manufacturing staff. (5%)
  • Investigate and provide information for QIR’s. (5%)
  • Other related duties as assigned. (5%)

Keys to Success:

Education and Experience

  • Bachelors Degree required.
  • 5+ years of manufacturing experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of at least one functional Manufacturing area and related equipment and procedures.
  • Good knowledge of GMP’s and WHMIS.
  • Excellent communication skills as well as proven interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency using MS Office applications.
  • Proficiency with the Spanish and English languages.
  • Knowledge in Lean Manufacturing
  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of facilities services requirements an asset.
  • Good knowledge of safety standards.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Physical Effort: 

Light physical effort and fatigue.  Walks, sits or stands for limited periods.  May require occasional equipment operation including keyboard equipment.  Lifts light items for limited duration.

Physical Environment

Typically located in a comfortable indoor area.  There may be regular exposure to mild physical discomfort from factors such as dust, fumes or odours, temperature extremes, loud noise, strong drafts, or bright lights.

Sensory Attention

Intermittent need to distinguish among or interpret a variety of sensory inputs that occasionally may not be straight forward.

Mental Stress: 

There is continuous pressure from deadlines, production quotas, accuracy and similar demands. Also, unpleasant interpersonal contacts or concern about unpleasant situations are probable.
