Job Summary

The CRL IT organization is looking for an innovative, adaptable, and results-oriented Senior IT Specialist SAP Basis that will support SAP Applications architecture vision and strategy that is scalable and enables business objectives. They will provide technical support to all SAP Applications, and collaborate across teams to solve complex design issues, avoid technical debt, drive agile practices, and implement architecture best practices. This role will work closely with other technical engineers, collaborating with technology and business stakeholders to develop, support, and enhance our SAP Applications.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • In conjunction with users and IT managers, where applicable, assist in maintaining the corporate ERP application to meet the needs of Charles River globally.
  • Provide technical guidance to assigned team in designing and developing solutions with consideration to overall strategy and direction of SAP within Charles River and best practice guidance from SAP. 
  • Provide timely and effective support for application related questions. 
  • Work with IT Leadership and Colleagues to align team’s tasks with business priorities.
  • Work with ERP architect to develop strategies and roadmap for SAP landscape
  • Integrate activities with those of other major organizational units (e.g. segments, departments, functions).  
  • Implement changes to the system in accordance with defined project timelines, and providing input into the timeline definitions.
  • Support the change control process to ensure changes are transitioned smoothly.
  • Ensure adherence to pertinent regulatory requirements and to departmental policies, practices and procedures [SOPs, safety procedures and biosafety protocols].
  • SAP system troubleshooting and problem solving, as well as day-to-day monitoring and administration of SAP systems.
  • Provide recommendations and guidance for the tuning and optimization of our SAP landscape.
  • Perform or participate in periodic reviews, audits and updates to the hosting standards, process controls and technologies.
  • Research and provide directions for SAP software corrections including SAP OSS notes and SAP support packages.
  • Manage the SAP router configuration for SAP support.
  • Establish operational discipline through the application of best practice policies and procedures for the SAP operations area
  • Create and maintain documentation related to production batch jobs.
  • Create and maintain RFC connections.
  • Spool and Printer administration
  • Upgrade existing Instances and Installing new instances across all platforms.
  • Help apply the Disaster Recovery procedures to the SAP Installations.
  • Configure and execute SAP change control functions including the transport management system (TMS) and batch jobs management across our instances.
  • Have good working experience in SAP Cloud Applications and assist in driving digital transformation strategy
  • Experience in ChaRM and Technical Monitoring in Solution Manager
  • Able to provide administration experience in below SAP Cloud Applications
    • SAP CPI
    • SAP Integration Suite
    • SAP Analytics Cloud
    • SAP Datasphere (Datawarehouse Cloud) 
    • SAP SuccessFactors Admin

Job Qualifications

  • Education:  Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent in computer science, engineering, or related discipline.  MBA or other relevant graduate degree preferred.
  • Experience:  
    • 10 + years working experience in SAP Basis administration
      • Systems Architecture design, sizing, installations, post installations activities, transport systems configuration, client maintenance
    • Good knowledge of SAP Cloud Applications
    • Related experience in onshore and offshore model
  • Other:  
    • In-depth knowledge of current IT technologies and state-of-the-art practices
    • Strong interpersonal skills including influencing & aligning 
    • Working knowledge and experience with complex business systems integration 
    • Effectively communicate and make technical information consumable to large, multi-national audiences
    • Have proven emotional intelligence (EQ) and relationship building skills
    • Be able to conceptualize and develop impartial alternative solution approaches, articulating the benefits and trade-offs of each
    • Experience in building Technology roadmaps
    • Experience working in an Agile/ product and platform centric operating model 

Compensation Data

The pay range for this position is $150,000 - $160,000 USD. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
