Inside Sales Account Manager

BASIC SUMMARY:

Responsible for achieving quarterly and annual sales targets for assigned accounts and/or geographical territory for all Charles River product and services. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The Inside Sales AM RMS is responsible for driving Research Models & Services sales and serving as the main point of contact for all sales-related customer enquiries.

  • Work closely with both the specialist sales staff, fellow Business Development colleagues from RMS and other business units (DSA, Biologics, Microbial) and management teams to increase market share of both in-house and outsourced revenue spend at assigned accounts or within a geographical territory

  • Meet or exceed overall revenue targets and business objectives.

  • With direction and support from Management, Marketing, Client Engagement, Customer Intelligence Specialists and peers, generate account-specific sales strategies to sell all company products and services.

  • Work with management to prepare and provide accurate account forecasts for assigned accounts/territories throughout the year to track achievements versus goals.

  • Develop and qualify account leads through frequent customer contact and prospecting.

  • Gather data on potential customers and competitive behavior in their designated geographic region, including marketing trends and competitive products and pricing.

  • Build relationships with customers to apply the global sales program (CHALLENGER) to consult for and influence towards the acceptance and use of company products and services.

  • Communicate available product and services and inform customers of new products and services in a timely manner.

  • Handle initial inquiries and qualify all prospective opportunities. Identify the drug development business model at these accounts and effectively communicate the value proposition of the company’s products and services.

  • Work closely with the Specialist sales staff to ensure that the customer has a cohesive and responsive team throughout the sales process

  • Work with management and peers to prepare and implement a comprehensive territory management plan to indicate target opportunities, potential new accounts, expansion of existing accounts and an analysis of competitor accounts.

  • Mandatory use of the CRL CRM program SalesForce to capture all customer information and interactions, create opportunities, territory management plans and commercial conditions

  • Complete all required sales documentation in a timely manner (max 5 working days after customer contact)

  • Participate in sales meetings (remote and in person) and trade shows as required. 

  • Share customer problems/concerns with all appropriate departments for quality resolution.

  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education:Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree (B.A. /B.S.) or equivalent in life sciences, sales or related discipline. Direct working experience with Laboratory Rodent Animal Models is desireable.   

  • Experience:Minimum 1 year of sales or inside sales experience, preferably in the life science industry.

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.

  • Other:  Excellent communication and presentation skills in English.  Proficient in the use of standard office computer applications (word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, e-mail).

  • Demonstrated ability to quickly grasp and master highly technical/scientific concepts and articulate them well

  • Outstanding listening, verbal, presentation, and written communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of customer types and personalities.

  • Strong business sense, instinct and personal drive

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must regularly operate a phone, computer and occasionally operate other office productivity machinery such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.

  • Must regularly communicate with employees/customers; must be able to exchange accurate information verbally (in person and on the phone) and in writing.

  • Must occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • General office/home office working conditions.

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.

Comments:

  • This position requires limited domestic and international travel.
