PURPOSE:

The Senior Medical Strategy Director, Rheumatology, will provide senior medical, clinical and scientific advisory expertise to all IQVIA divisions as requested. Provide senior oversight in all aspects of Medical Science involvement on assigned trials/programs. Serve as a medical expert throughout business development activities, developing and taking accountability of the medical strategy.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the development of medically sounded delivery strategies for large, complex, multi-region studies or programs, including mega studies and portfolio management, in partnership with sales and other functions responsible for business development activities.
  • Responsible for the development of the medically related aspects of client proposals including the budget related to medical monitoring.
  • Provides medical and scientific advises to key internal stakeholders developing proposals: this may include, but is not limited to, providing strategic thinking to protocol design/clinical development plan, reviewing the protocol for scientific/regulatory soundness and feasibility, identification of target site and principal investigator profiles, anticipated patient recruitment, standard of care and competitive landscape.
  • Actively supports sales in the preparation of customer and bid defense meetings, e.g. training and preparation of the assigned project team; provide specific content; ensure presentation focus and content effectively conveys medical inputs and strategy. Attends and presents at customer meeting, or bid defense or partnership meetings, as required.
  • Participates in strategic business development activities including presentations to prospective clients and professional meetings.
  • Maintains awareness of industry development and may author related publications.
  • Contributes to pipeline analysis and supports due diligence research of select compounds and/or companies, as requested.  
  • May serve as Global Therapeutic Lead for specific indication(s).

REQUIREMENTS:

A medical degree from an accredited and internationally recognized medical school with a curriculum relevant to general medical education, along with a medical license, or equivalent, from the country or region in which he/she resides and works is required, plus a minimum of 5 years' experience in clinical medicine, in addition to 8 years' clinical trials experience as an investigator or in the Pharma, CRO, or Biotech industry. Specialty Board certification desirable; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

  • Robust and current knowledge of scientific, clinical, regulatory, commercial and competitive landscape in applicable therapeutic area.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and local regulations and guidelines pertaining to clinical research.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills, including good command of English language (both written and spoken).
  • Strong Business Acumen.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, managers and clients.
  • Excellent skills in providing consultation and advice on multiple assignments are required, as well as initiative and flexibility.
