At our site in High Peak, Derbyshire we are recruiting for a Technical Specialist to join the Core Technology team and maintain cell lines and assist in the production of microarray slides.
This role would suit a graduate with industrial experience, or a candidate that is currently working in cell culture. Training is provided.
What You'll Be Doing
Routine culture of established cell lines
Responsibility for the introduction of alternative cell lines
Coordinate cell production/provision for multiple teams
Maintain quality control procedures
Aliquoting of reagents and maintaining reagent stock levels for multiple teams
Responsible for safe and efficient operation of two cell culture labs
Coordinate and perform mycoplasma testing
Assist with assay development and refinement as required
Involvement in continuous improvement activities related to cell culture
Assist with the organisation of equipment servicing.
SHE - Adhere to health and safety procedures.
Responsibility for the cleanliness and organisation of cell culture suites - liquid nitrogen stocks, carbon dioxide cylinders, cleaning and maintenance of the cell culture hoods, incubators, water baths, aliquoting and appropriate disposal of waste.
Assisting with Core Technology team activities as required
Scheduling the cell culture production plans will be key to the role along with QC analysis. Being able to work to timelines and the ability to modify workplans is vital.

Skills and Qualifications
As a minimum we would require you to have A Levels in Biology and / or Chemistry
A degree in a related Science subject would be highly advantageous but not essential, as experience is easily substituted for education.
Good organisational, time keeping and communication skills
Experience of Microsoft applications - Excel, Word, PowerPoint
