How will you make an impact?

This position plays a key role in providing Facility Services support to the site. The Building Maintenance Mechanic II maintains laboratories and offices in a cGMP manufacturing facility. Provides support to site improvement, and special projects.  Ensures facility activities adhere to quality systems standards.  Always keeps the facility in a state of inspection readiness. Interacts with building occupants to resolve calls for hot/cold, plumbing, leak, noise, odor, fire system issues, and much more.  The assignments range from mundane to complex where considerable judgment and initiative are required, and where analysis must be documented.

What will you do?

  • Perform ongoing preventive maintenance and repair work on facility mechanical, electrical, and other installed systems
  • Maintain all facilities equipment and utilities in compliance with regulatory standards and in good working order
  • Review and understand equipment and methods of operation, BMS system, fire/life safety, and other systems
  • Assemble, mechanical installation, and electrical installation of automated storage systems and associated components
  • Maintain, operate all HVAC systems and associated equipment, electrical equipment, plumbing systems, building management system, and building repairs
  • Test and adjust the mechanical and electrical as necessary and lead the connectivity of the automation hardware to the software environment
  • Respond to emergency notifications and communicate the status of work assignments to internal customers and facilities team
  • Locate and diagnose failures, replace defective components and perform basic troubleshooting using hand & power tools, test equipment, mathematics, operating manuals, specifications, prints, and verbal and/or written instructions
  • Provide written documentation of activities via work orders, PMs, formal root cause analysis, management reports and discrepancies or non-conformance reports, engineering change orders (ECO) and validations 
  • Develop and revise Standard Operating Procedures and manages or supports key audit and compliance activities
  • Establish and maintain a good working relationship with contractors and employees
  • Promote a safe work practices and works in a safe manner at all times
  • Complete additional assignments as needed

How will you get here?

Education

  • HVAC degree or 5 or more years’ electronics technician degree or equivalent experience in an engineering environment EPA 608 Technician Certification

Experience

  •  5 years of related experience, with 2-3 years working in a cGMP environment

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong mechanical proficiency skill and ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and plans (Mechanical and/or electrical)
  • Ability to understand quality systems and change order requirements in a validated facility
  • Ability to recognize deviation from accepted practice
  • Ability to apply knowledge of cGMPs every day and maintain accurate reports following good documentation practices
  • Ability to initiate work orders with minimal guidance for routine work orders and apply general instructions to new assignments
  • Strong computer skills, familiar with Microsoft Office products, especially Excel, Word, Power Point, and Outlook
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to follow spoken and written instruction in English
  • Ability and willingness to lift, lower and carry objects up to 50 lbs., work from heights, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces

Additional Information

  • The schedule is M-F with a rotating weeknight and weekend on-call schedule
