Making an impact

Reporting into our Director of Legal, SEAT you will be responsible for providing your own brand of specialist advice, information and support to the business.

The role of Legal Counsel is to collaborate with Thermo Fisher Scientific’s SEAT businesses in negotiating and drafting commercial contracts (including terms and conditions of product sales and purchase), service, marketing, distribution, license, development, consulting, government, and OEM agreements.

This is a fantastic opportunity to be exposed to varied and exciting matters and be a part of a strong, collaborative team! This is a full -time permanent role, ideally based in Taiwan.

What you will be doing

You will be involved in a range of varied and complex responsibilities. Day to day tasks include:

  • Provide legal advice and guidance on a wide range of legal matters, including corporate law, commercial contracts, intellectual property, employment law, regulatory compliance, and dispute resolution.
  • Review, draft, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and legal documents to ensure compliance with local laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Conduct legal research to stay updated on relevant laws and regulations in Taiwan, and provide recommendations to ensure compliance and mitigate legal risks.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, HR, operations, and compliance, to ensure legal compliance in business operations and decision-making.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of corporate policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure legal compliance and minimize risks.
  • Support in-house investigations, including conducting interviews, collecting evidence, and preparing legal documents, in cases of legal disputes, regulatory issues, or compliance violations.
  • Represent the organization in negotiations, mediations, and other legal proceedings, as required.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and changes in the legal landscape, and provide proactive legal advice and recommendations to support business strategies and objectives.
  • Collaborate with external legal counsel on legal matters.

Getting there!

Be a part of an encouraging and stimulating team-based environment and have strong commercial and financial insight. Suits a flexible and agile character with strong communication skills, a drive for results and high resilience.

Together with this you will have:
  • Bachelor of Law Degree required and registered to practice law in Taiwan
  • 5-8 years post-qualification experience, with superior commercial contracts drafting and negotiation capabilities
  • Experience in cross border transactions and solving regional legal issues
  • A mix of private practice and in-house experience strongly preferred
  • Experience in government contracts, competition law, marketing, anti-bribery, products liability and data privacy
  • Capable of handling large and small scale legal matters and projects
  • Confirmed negotiation, research and analytical skills
  • Ability to apply skills commercially to reach solutions
  • Familiarity with medical device manufacturing, pharmaceutical or clinical regulations
