Location/Division Specific Information

This position offers a challenging opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced Quality professional. The role is located in Oakwood Village, OH, and will have a key impact on the success of the Measurement Control and Sample Identification (MCS) Business Unit.

What you will do:
  • Direct responsibility for all Quality-related activities at the Oakwood Village, OH site in leading implementation and improvement of the latest Quality methodologies and thinking.
  • Further establish and enhance all aspects of the Quality Management System from strategic planning to hands-on implementation on topics such as Quality Assurance/Control, auditing, document management, Management Review, Non-Conforming Material, CAPA resolution, supplier management, etc.
  • Implement a “Problem Solving” culture to Quality issues that will drive sustainable RCCA.
  • Operate successfully in a matrix organization and own Quality matters across Functions, Departments and Suppliers in order to resolve issues and improve performance.
  • Implement and drive Quality methodologies and principles around Process Control and Predictive Quality, including key performance indicators.
  • Leverage Thermo Fisher Scientific’s PPI Business System to drive productivity and continuous improvement across the Quality function.

Keys to Success:

Education
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a Scientific discipline
  • Training in Lean Sigma/Six Sigma processes. Green or Black belt certification preferred

Experience
  • A minimum of 5 years of quality experience in positions of increasing authority.
  • Experience leading and developing a quality team in a manufacturing environment
  • Significant hands-on experience with quality management systems implementation and improvements
  • Proven experience as a “Champion for Quality”
  • Experience working with multiple projects and teams simultaneously across a matrixed organization.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • A decisive leader who is able to inspire and motivate teams across cultures and geographies and can clearly articulate goals and objectives
  • Extensive knowledge of Problem-Solving techniques such as 8D, DMAIC, PPS, A3, etc.
  • Knowledge and experience with lean manufacturing principles
  • Expert with ISO9001:2015 standard and its applicability in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong relationship-building and persuasion skills with the ability to motivate and influence others
  • ASQ Quality Manager certified; ASQ Lead Auditor training is helpful
  • Committed and self-driven with a positive mindset, flexible and persistent
  • Strong critical thinking skills with attention to detail without losing the greater picture
