JOB OVERVIEW

Schedule: Sunday through Thursday, 12:00pm to 8:30pm (eligible for shift differential)

Provides professional and technical skills and knowledge to ensure accurate and timely performance of regular and specialized testing in one or more areas of clinical laboratory such as Hematology, Molecular, Microbiology, Auto Chemistry, Special Chemistry, Immunology, and Flow Cytometry to obtain data for use in diagnosis and recording clinical trial laboratory test results. Performs work within the allowed scope of technical license.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Independently performs and reports test results with minimal supervisor, for all clinical laboratory procedures as assigned, both automated and manual, in the clinical laboratory department.
  • Demonstrates proficiency, competency and understanding of fundamental principles of clinical laboratory procedures with minimal amount of supervision.
  • Maintains sufficient inventory of laboratory supplies for daily operations and prepare reagents required for testing.
  •  Notifies supervisory team of any irregularities of factors, which may influence test results.
  •  Participates in introduction of assay improvements, new assay configurations and validation.
  •  Uses the control measures and personal protective equipment provided, report any safety related deficiencies.
  •  Ensures compliance with all local, federal, CLIA and CAP regulations.
  •  Adheres to laboratory’s quality control policies and document all quality control activities and maintain a clean and well-organized work area.
  •  Maintains proficiency and training requirements.
  •  Participates in special projects and perform other duties, as assigned by supervisor.
  •  Responsible for verifying QC and releasing lab results for reporting to investigator sites in accordance with licensing regulations.
  •  Participates in continuing education through self-study, attending training sessions and meetings.
  •  May assist in activities related to the training of lab personnel.
  •  Performs work in accordance with ICH E6 Guideline for Good Clinical Practice.
  •  Supports internal and external audits and inspections, as required.
  •  Supports safety, quality, and 6S requirements and initiatives.
  •  Complies with company's procedures and applicable regulatory requirements.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Sound knowledge of principles, theories, and concepts in job area.
  • Working knowledge of Good Clinical Laboratory Practices (GCLP) and other regulatory agency standards within the area of responsibility such as CLIA requirements.
  •  Proficiency with general laboratory techniques.
  •  Knowledge of laboratory safety and infection control procedures and practices including standard precautions and hazardous chemical handling.
  • Technical knowledge of complex testing procedures and science supporting the analysis.
  • Proficiency with complex laboratory calculations regarding batches and specimens including averages, means, standard deviations, and various quality control metrics.
  •  Ability to troubleshoot laboratory equipment and resolve process issues.
  •  Good computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Effective organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills.
  •  capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
  •  Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  •  Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, managers and clients.

The potential base pay range for this role, when annualized, is $60,300.00 - $90,500.00. The actual base pay offered may vary based on a number of factors including job-related qualifications such as knowledge, skills, education, and experience; location; and/or schedule (full or part-time). Dependent on the position offered, incentive plans, bonuses, and/or other forms of compensation may be offered, in addition to a range of health and welfare and/or other benefits.
