Location/Division Specific Information:

This position is within the Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry Division of the Analytical Instruments Group at Thermo Fisher Scientific. The Ion Chromatography and Sample Preparation Business Unit (IC/SP) develops, manufactures, and markets chromatography and extraction systems for separating, isolating, and identifying the components of chemical mixtures. The candidate would be fully onsite in Vilnius, Lithuania.

How will you make an impact?

The Application Staff Scientist for Ion Chromatography/Sample Preparation (IC/SP) Business Unit will be responsible for developing new applications for a wide range of products and markets to help our customers to be successful. This role will work closely with business unit and divisional marketing and product management teams, R&D, field groups, customers, and potential collaborations to drive method development roadmaps for the existing and future ion chromatography, sample preparation and discrete industrial analyzer products.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record conducting experiments that follow a well-defined project design and meeting milestones established by the laboratory manager. This position will provide an opportunity to use and enhance your chromatography skills and you will work in a close-knit team of application scientists who champion each other and push the standard for excellence in application development. We are seeking an experienced technical leader capable of bridging customer needs and broader market trends, translating into solution requirements and high impact strategies and initiatives. Strong engagement with customers and teams across the organization will be instrumental in gathering data on market trends, portfolio performance and competitive dynamics.

What will you do?

Technical leadership

  • Develop new applications and writing Application Notes and Technical Notes
  • Publishing scientific papers in peer refereed journals
  • Presenting technical papers at scientific conferences and trade shows
  • Support sales materials including new product sale training, applications notes, and technical presentations

R&D Roadmap and New Product Development and Introduction (NPDI)

  • Influence R&D roadmap and NPDI strategy based on customer’s technical needs, global market and competitive dynamics and regional specific variations.
  • Developing application validation and testing new hardware, consumable, and software products to support NPDI projects
  • Provide continuous requirements to the product groups on IC system performance, features and gap analysis between our product offering and competitive technology through all phases of product development as a technical expertise

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:

Education

  • MS or Ph.D. in chemistry, biochemistry or related field strongly preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree required. BS plus significant post college related work experience may be considered.

Experience

  • Extensive knowledge and experience with analytical chemistry instruments and applications for applied (environmental, industrial, food & beverage) and life sciences segments.
  • The ideal candidate must have a minimum of 4+ years hands-on laboratory experience with Ion Chromatography (IC) or HPLC methods development.
  • Experience with LC-MS is preferred

Monthly salary from 2,500 to 3,750 Eur before taxes and additional benefits package.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in Lithuania is €30,000.00–€45,000.00.
