Sr Material Handler

This Position is for Day Shift

Summary:

Work closely with ProcessingSupervisors, and Warehouse staff to ensure the daily production schedule is supported from a materials perspective, materials are accurately reconciled in a timely manner during production and reconciliations are entered in the ERP system

Essential Functions:

• Monitor processingschedule to coordinate production jobs, ensuring that jobs are staged and delivered in a timely manner.

• Coordinate with the warehouse personnel to ensure the effective release, staging and flow of materials to production.

• Identify and verify the required and correct components from a work order.

• Plan resources, schedule and materials.

• Attend (or leads as required) meetings regarding production schedule, targets, resources and immediate issues

• Supply materials to the processing rooms as required 

• Remove finished goods from the processing rooms 

• Ensure the general housekeeping of the packaging area is maintained at all time.

• Support 5S and Environment, Health & Safety program maintenance and audits.

• Maintain a safe working environment and reports potential hazards.

• Perform alternating or rotating shift workas required 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

High school diploma/General Educational Development (GED) Certificate is required.

Experience:

Minimum of 2 years related experience in a pharmaceutical manufacturing or food processing plant.  Previous experience with manual and electrical lift trucks would be an asset.  

Experience supervising or organizing others’ work would be an asset.  

Equivalency:

Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant work experience may be considered. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

Mathematical aptitude.  Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.  Detail oriented and organized, with a high degree of accuracy and thoroughness.   Sound knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and safety regulations.Demonstrated computer proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.  Proficiency with the English language.

Carry out all duties within strict compliance to Patheon quality systems SOP's and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP). Maintain workspace in a clean and orderly fashion.  Actively engage in and adhere to departmental systems in order to maintain a smooth and efficient workflow (visual management, scheduling systems, etc.).Be client and patient conscious at all times.Understand Key Performance Indicators and strive to improve the performance of the team by identifying areas for system improvements and engage in problem solving. Models positive thinking and is open to change, motivating the team to adapt to shifts in priorities and new ways of working. Proactively identify areas for improvement in the execution of procedures. Communicate risks to timelines of deliverables in a proactive manner.  Consistently strives to improve skills and knowledge in related field.

Physical Requirements:

Position requires ordinary ambulatory skills and physical coordination sufficient to move about manufacturing/office locations; ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch periodically for prolonged periods of time; manipulation (lift, carry, move) of light to medium weights of up to 40 pounds; arm, hand and finger dexterity; visual acuity to operate equipment, and read materials for prolonged periods of time; ability to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear for prolonged periods of time. Usually in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors causing moderate physical discomfort from such things as dust, loud noise, bright lights, fumes or odour. Use of Personal Protective equipment is required and may include any of the following: safety glasses, safety shoes, lab coat, gloves, hair net, beard cover, safety apron, respirator.
