Job Description

We are seeking an innovative Scientist III - Data Scientist to join our Advanced Technology Team in Madison, Wisconsin! In this role, we are excited for you to build artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) models to better understand complicated spectroscopic datasets in order to model and control biological systems.

Responsibilities:

We apply innovative data analysis methods, such as AI/ML, to analyze and interpret intricate data sets within molecular spectroscopy. Our team develops and implements predictive models and algorithms for Raman and Infrared spectroscopic data. Our team collaborates with cross-functional teams to define research objectives, design experiments, and collect invaluable data. We need your help visualizing large datasets to convey sophisticated findings and recommendations to collaborators. You will share and prepare comprehensive technical reports, documentation, and presentations to communicate research outcomes. Finally, we strive to stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in AI/ML, and integrate them into our work.

Requirements:

  • Hold a Ph.D. or Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Physics, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field.
  • Shown experience in application of large dataset analysis in the realm of spectroscopy.
  • Proficiency in programming languages, such as Python, for data analysis, modeling, and visualization.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to identify patterns and trends in spectroscopic datasets.
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with large-scale datasets and distributed computing frameworks.
  • Knowledge of AI and ML techniques in spectroscopy and biochemical systems.
  • Familiarity with cloud computing platforms, such as AWS or Azure.
  • Expertise in data preprocessing techniques, feature engineering, and data augmentation.
  • Proven understanding of statistical methodologies and their applications in data analysis and modeling.
  • Knowledge about Chemometrics modeling techniques and basic analytical spectroscopy instrumentation desirable but not required.
  • Track record of publishing scientific papers and communicating research findings at conferences.
