Job Summary We are seeking a Categories Lab Operations Co-op for our Procurement team located in Wilmington, MA

The Internship/Co-op at Charles River Labs provides an overview of a complex business and the data that supports critical decision-making while training on Procurement requirements and processes and practical exposure to supply market dynamics. It also provides an understanding of how organizations work cross-functionally to support a critical business capability while using practical application and development of research and analysis skills. We are dedicated to ensuring our Co-op/Intern population can experience the ability to Grow, Perform, and Succeed during their time on board. 

Role Summary:  The role is in support of key Lab Operations procurement projects including implementation of Scientific Services technology platform, site transition support for supplies and consumables category and supply base rationalization.

The responsibilities will include: Provide support with rationalization of supplier catalogs to drive spend to preferred suppliers and reduce the tail spend suppliers Provide support for implementation of Inventory Management at key sites Leverage spend analytics to identify consolidation opportunities; understand total cost of ownership and cost drivers, analyze product/service specifications to identify rationalization opportunities; analyze demand and spend to identify patterns and reduction opportunities  Analyze market intelligence to build business cases and cost models to identify and quantify improvement opportunities for both sourcing and non- sourcing - e.g., demand management, process improvements, insource vs. outsource, et Collaborate with cross functional business partners and site procurement teams to identify and highlight areas of potential opportunity, value and efficiencies Coordinate with Finance and key suppliers for resolution of payables issues and process improvements Assist in the planning and execution of sourcing events Job Qualifications

Basic requirements:  

•    Student currently enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing an advanced degree in, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Supply Chain or Business Administration

•    Scientific background such as chemistry, biology or bio-chemistry is preferred

•    Strong data analytical skills; proficiency with Excel including pivot tables and graphical analysis

•    Ability to engage with a diverse group of stakeholders

•    Strong presentation skills

•    Prefer experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP

•    Basic understanding of supply chain principals or a desire to learn supply chain/procurement
