Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Laboratory Animal Technician II/Floor Leader to join our Insourcing Solutions team in Hamilton, MT.

As the LATII/Floor Leader, you will use existing SOPs and quality assurance standards to maintain, monitor, and document the health, production, and physical environment within our clients ABSL 2-4 animal facility environments.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Review, comprehend, and comply with all SOP’s and quality assurance standards.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in performing animal husbandry for rodents, rabbits, and NHPs, including accurate record-keeping of animal breeding, health, and support areas.
  • Create daily husbandry work schedule cage changing and additional duties.
  • Demonstrate contamination mitigation practices & follow Biosafety requirements.
  • Conduct room inspections to assess animal health and cage environment.
  • Research personnel issues involving animal care staff, gather information and submit to management.
  • Investigate operations and facility issues; gather, comply, and submit information/recommendation(s) for resolution and then provide direction to staff.
  • Train new hires in animal care and facility operations, ensure paperwork is signed off on and training is progressing and complete.
  • As needed, monitor daily animal health and welfare, while performing health observations.
  • QA to include animal health surveillance, monitor facility sanitation, HVAC, and facility reports for deviation from est. parameters.
  • Receive, inspect, and put away incoming animals.
  • Assist with restraint, handling, and manipulation of various animal species.
  • Strictly maintain and follow breeding and weaning procedures, to include accurate record keeping and demonstrate proficiency with colony inventory mgmt., including data entry.

Job Qualifications

The following are minimum requirements related to the LATII/Floor Leader position:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Three or more years in laboratory animal care, one of which is in a supervisor capacity.
  • Current ALAT certification is required; must obtain LAT within 1 year.

The pay range for this position is $32 USD per hour.
