Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to support our Cell Therapy, CDMO business unit to be located remotely in the U.S. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Handle assigned inbound client calls, or emails, qualify leads and provide timely response to the potential clients.
  • Develop and qualify account leads through territory prospecting and frequent outbound virtual customer contact (phone call, video call etc.)
  • Lead sales program in assigned territory applying technical/scientific skills to compete for customers. 
    • Gather and organize data on potential customers in your designated geographic region.
  • Develop and qualify leads through customer contact and prospecting. Communicate available Charles River products and services and inform customers of new products and services in a timely manner.
  • Fulfill subject matter expertise role, working with marketing to assure design, development and implementation of marketing tools and programs that support company goals
  • Handle initial inquires and qualify all prospective opportunities. Identify the drug development business model at these accounts and effectively communicate the value proposition of the company’s products and services.
  • Prepare and implement a comprehensive territory management plan to indicate target opportunities, potential new accounts, expansion of existing accounts and an analysis of competitor accounts.
  • Build relationships with customers to influence the acceptance and use of company products and services.
  • Work with other specialists within Biologics and across the organization to generate major account specific sales strategies to close opportunities.
  • Assist Global Account Management with presenting global capabilities, qualifying leads, demonstrating added value and closing new business opportunities by providing scientific support during sponsor teleconference calls, field visits and at scientific trade shows.
  • As required, give overview of assigned product line and services to internal and external contacts. Share portfolio opportunities with Account Manager from other divisions withing Charles River.
  • As required gather data on market trends and competitive products and pricing. Gather data on potential competitors in the designated geographic region.
  • Share customer problems/concerns with relevant departments for quality resolution.
  • Participate and assume support role in national and international tradeshows and aid in the coordination of tradeshow events and or presentations.
  • Participate in sales meetings as required. 
  • Complete all required sales documentation and training in a timely manner.
  • Utilize CRM to capture customer information and maintain all communications within the CRM system with routine status reporting.
  • Perform as organizational lead for CRM system monitoring and reporting. Specifically, ensuring all proposals are followed up on in a timely manner.
  • Develop and maintain reports for tracking and reporting on Sales Initiatives within CRM and/or other tools.
  • Assist Sales Specialists and Management with specific assigned customer projects as needed.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.
  • Responsible for ensuring that a safe working environment is maintained for him/herself and his/her colleagues by observing all safety procedures and working methods, by making proper use of protective clothing and equipment and by reading, understanding and following all safety documents issued or notified to him/her.
  • To participate in overtime as is reasonably required for the successful completion of your role.

  • Education:  Bachelor’s degree (B.A. /B.S.) or equivalent in business or related discipline. 
  • Experience:  Three to Five years related experience.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
  • Certification/Licensure:  Valid driver’s license required.
  • Other:  Fluent in verbal and written English and German. Must possess excellent communication and presentation skills. Proficient in the use of standard office computer applications (word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, e-mail).

Compensation Data

The pay range for this position is $100-115K USD. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location
