As Head of Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) for IQVIA Research and Development, the successful individual will a systemic approach to addressing D&I in recruiting and retaining diverse populations into clinical research activities. You will work directly with both sponsor teams and internal teams to develop, implement and monitor specific plans to increase the diversity of clinical trial participant populations. 

The ultimate success and goal will be for trial populations to mirror actual patient populations in the locations where trial recruitment is conducted. Additionally, you will need to collaborate across senior leaders, a global employee workforce, and diverse sponsor expectations to build out strategy, execute program launches and implement initiatives to ensure the optimal attraction, development and retention of diverse research subject populations.  A strong understanding of appropriate regulation and guidance pertaining to bias and inclusion is a key requirement.

Responsibilities:

  • Understand the current state of D&I expectations, business strategy and initiatives, and develop a broad customer centric strategy that aligns D&I goals with the business outcomes.

  • Drive leadership awareness, commitment and accountability for D&I initiatives.

  • Serves as a D&I subject matter expert by giving perspective, insights, and knowledge in a consultative manner; partnering with all operational groups and customers to implement D&I initiatives

  • Champion and scale initiatives globally across a diverse, remote and multifunctional organization.

  • Measure, track and analyze the effectiveness of D&I efforts and report on progress and identify opportunities for future improvement.

  • Partner with the recruitment team to identify sources for diverse patient populations and aid in building networks to aid participation in clinical trials.

  • Partner with Learning and Development to implement training content for site and patient facing operational groups ensure diversity by design is attained. 

  • Partner with the Project Leadership and Site Management organizations to drive adoption gaining “business as usual” status for D&I activities.

Essential Function


• Work collaboratively with internal teams, client and site representatives, to develop and implement operational approaches that apply best-in-class  strategies for addressing  patient recruitment and retention related challenges as well as identify avenues to increase patient recruitment and retention efforts
• Lead Operationalizing of new methods of recruitment and retention including industry partnerships, big data and emerging technologies
• Provide senior oversight support across active clinical programs acting as a liaison for the PRP team across both internal and client teams
• Determine ways to increase value proposition for sites and patients and provide a framework for all IQVIA staff to drive effective recruitment and retention on trials
• Collaborate with key stakeholders to build therapeutically aligned strategies to drive enhanced recruitment and retention across IQVIAs' portfolio of studies
• Keep current with industry trends and proactively bring forward new recruitment and retention solutions for testing
• Ensure best practices are utilized across the team
• Develop and implement approaches to continuously drive customer and investigator loyalty and a best in class reputational brand of IQVIA at the site and patient level
• Contribute to the formulation of effective strategic goals for GPSS and take ownership for operationalizing strategic initiatives including development of measures for success
• Support health and clinical trial literacy events / initiatives and present at relevant industry conferences, events, etc.
• Collaborate with senior management and other functional leadership to improve efficiencies, project outcomes and quality metrics
• Ensure quality and regulatory appropriateness and acceptance of all offerings and programs
• Lead corporate or departmental quality or process improvement initiatives. May act as a client and/or internal liaison for GPSS function
• Manage staff in accordance with organization’s policies and applicable regulations
• Responsibilities may include planning, assigning, and directing work

• rewarding and disciplining employees
• addressing employee relations issues and resolving problems
• Approve actions on human resources matters
• Provide operational leadership oversight for the resourcing process, including hiring, on-boarding and training standards and evaluating existing and future resource alternatives
• Evaluate workload, quality and budget metrics through regular review and reporting of findings
• Coach and mentor employees as they develop in their role.

Qualifications


• Bachelor's Degree and 12 yrs. relevant experience or equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Plus 6 yrs. of leadership experience.
• Knowledge of the drug development processes and in depth knowledge of Site & Patient Networks processes and practices
• Knowledge and ability to apply GCP/ICH and applicable regulatory guidelines
• Advanced ability to analyze metrics and information; ensuring activities and strategies are data driven
• Knowledge of clinical research financial parameters and project financial tracking and accounting methods
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, managers and clients
• Computer skills including proficiency in use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Good written and verbal communication skills including good command of English and effective presentation skills
• Superior leadership skills
• Effective organizational and problem solving skills
• Effective time management skills and ability to manage competing priorities
