Job Purpose:

The Scientist I operationally delivers client projects for Biomarker and Genomic Medicine (BGM) services. S/he demonstrates basic knowledge of scientific principles in the areas of computational biology or bioinformatics, and concepts related to one or more capabilities. S/he will provide support for the BGM strategy and interpretation to other SBUs and clients.

Key Accountabilities:

Supports the operational delivery of one or more aspects of a client program or project through computational/data processing support, to timelines, quality expectations and regulatory requirement.Assists project leaders and or line management in assessing project resource needs with respect to areas of responsibilityExercises judgment in determining methods, and techniques appropriate to deliver capability within their area of proficiency.Maintains awareness of field through review of literature, attending webinars and seminars.Develops and maintains a positive relationship with internal and external clients and team members, building partnerships and promoting teamwork

Skills:Basic programming skills in either a scripting or object-oriented language. Examples include Python, Perl, C, C++, and Java.Professional attitude, self-motivated, client focused work ethic with ability handling confidential matters and dataGood organizational, problem solving and/or analytical skillsRequires general instructions on routine work and detailed instructions on new projects/assignments.Good program management skills and excellent attention to detailAbility to manage multiple and varied tasks with enthusiasm and independently prioritize workload; demonstrated flexibility to changeWillingness to work in a matrix environment and to value and promote the importance of teamworkSkilled in Microsoft Office tools including Excel, PowerPoint and Word.Good scientific writing skillsStrong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.Clear and precise communication in English.

Knowledge and Experience:One or more years’ experience in pharmaceutical industry, CRO or academia desiredBasic knowledge of genomics and/or drug development. Some examples belowExperience working in a genetic, genomic, or molecular biology laboratoryExperience in genetic analysis, bioinformatics and computational programming

Education:

BA/BS degree in bioinformatics, genetics/genomics, statistical genetics, pharmacy, or relevant scientific field preferredPost-graduate qualification is advantageous.
