Job Summary

We are looking for Animal Care Taker for our IS customer site located in Munich.

Responsible for performing husbandry to provide comprehensive care for rodents in experimental and breeding rooms.

Duties:

  • Cage change, three days per week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday).
  • Daily control of all cages.
  • Change of water bottles (once per week).
  • Communication with researchers, via e-mail or phone call, on a daily basis. 
  • Administration of simple treatments (creams or oral medicines, but no injections). Cutting teeth when necessary. 
  • Updating information regarding the mice in the software (PyRAT). This includes registering new births, printing new cards, etc. 
  • Cleaning and refill of materials (daily) 
  • Monitor temperature / humidity / pressure oft he different rooms on a daily basis.
  • Disinfection of air filters and hood filters (once per week).
  • Weekly meeting with  staff 

Other additional tasks include:

  • Emptying the autoclave after each cycle. 
  • Showing the facility to new researchers and explaining the rules and safety protocols. 
  • Coordinating request from researchers 
  • Receiving and distributing new cages from quarantine area, when new mice arrive. 
  • Packing up mice for researchers, or for deliveries outside the facility. 
  • Use of the AFAS software 
  • Weekly check of safety devices such as: general disifinfection shower, eye shower, etc. 

Job Qualifications

We are looking for a candidate trained in the field of laboratory animal science. Frequent weekend hours are required.  Fluency in English. Availability to live in Munich Area Availability to start from March 2023 Taking training of 3 weeks in Italy is mandatory
