The Test team at IQVIA NLP is looking for someone with healthcare or life science experience to join us in testing our world-class natural language processing software and the applications that we develop alongside it.

Are you that person? You might be working with medical data, or be in medical coding or data abstraction and want to put your subject expertise to wider use; you might be a clinician with a passion for technology that does good in the world; you might be a researcher looking to change your career focus to developing tools to assist researchers or clinicians; you might be a seasoned tester with experience in this domain; or you might be something else completely. You might not feel like the perfect match, but we're open to anyone with the right skills, knowledge, and desire to learn.

This position is based in Cambridge, UK and offers remote/hybrid working arrangements depending on location. You will join our team of ~12 highly talented testers striving to provide the information our stakeholders need to make their decisions. We are prepared to use exploratory testing, automation, scientific method, statistics, checklists, test scripts, and whatever else we think will give the result the business needs.

Our testers often attend testing events, workshops and conferences. We also have regular in-house training in testing and other skills. Our company respects what we do, and we’re a core part its work and culture.

You must have a demonstrable interest in software development or technology and one or more of the following:

• Experience of working with medical records or in a healthcare environment
• Experience in the pharmaceutical industry
• Experience of life science research

You will have most of the following attributes:

• Reasonable knowledge of life sciences, bioinformatics, or genomics
• Programming or scripting experience
• Depth of knowledge in some specific area of healthcare such as medical coding, oncology, clinical research, anatomy, or pathology
• Reasonable knowledge of medical terminology around symptoms, diagnostics, and treatment
• Experience in testing software or technical support
• Analytical skills and a questioning mind

It would be good if you had a background in or knowledge of some of these:

• Natural language processing
• Text mining
• Familiarity with data sources such as PubMed, ClinicalTrials.gov
• Data analysis and presentation
