RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide day-to-day management of a team of Laboratory Data Management staff. Directly responsible for the utilization of staff.
- Define resource requirements and work with supervisor to prioritize resource assignments across projects.
- Implement department/office objectives.
- Review and guide the development and production of Data Management documentation or deliverables.
- Provide technical advice and solutions with internal and external customers to solve problems and improve efficiency, including the investigation and development of corrective and preventive actions.
- Participate in the implementation of new processes and technology. Ensure that staff is trained and compliant with current operating procedures, work instructions, and project scope of work.
- Identify and address professional development/training needs of staff. Mentor staff members to develop Data Management process and systems expertise.
- Serve as primary contact for customer interactions at project level with a focus on the Laboratory Data Management function.
- With established customers, provide operational input into proposals and scope of work. May participate in proposal defenses.
- May participate in customer meetings and lead discussions of project requirements and strategic planning.
- Ensure project milestones are met according to agreed upon timelines with high quality.
- Act as a point of escalation for team members to optimize client delivery.
- May spend significant time performing work tasks associated with Laboratory Data Management, typically in a lead role for short-term and long-term assignments.
- Understand scope of work and budget assumptions to identify out of scope work and contribute to estimating revised cost estimates.
- Manage staff in accordance with organization’s policies and applicable regulations. Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising work and guiding professional development; rewarding and disciplining employees (promotions and terminations); participating in recruiting staff; and addressing employee relations issues and resolving problems.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Strong interpersonal skills interacting with higher levels within Quintiles and with sponsors.
- Computer proficiency including word processing, presentation, and spreadsheet applications, with solid exposure to SAS.
- Knowledge of Laboratory Data Management processes and terminology
- Proven leadership skills
- Effective problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, managers, and clients.
