How will you make an impact?

As a Practical Process Improvement (PPI) Specialist, you will have the opportunity to work directly with operations teams to apply best practices and drive continuous improvement using Thermo Fisher Scientific's PPI Business System.

  • Be involved in continuous improvement efforts and Kaizen events to improve quality, productivity and customer satisfaction.
  • Optimize existing equipment, processes, and standard work to increase yield, reduce defects, and increase production efficiency.
  • Get trained on PPI Business System topics such as lean leadership, value stream mapping, kaizen, standard work, single piece flow, 5S, SMED, built in quality, etc.
  • Identify and develop ideas for continuous improvement.

Start Date: This internship is set to begin in either May or June 2024 for a duration of 10-12 weeks – dependent upon student availability per academic calendars.

Compensation & Relocation: This internship offers an hourly rate between $23.75 - $26.50. Additionally, a relocation stipend is offered in the amount of $5,000 if necessary. Student must be located 50+ miles away from the physical location of the internship to be eligible for the relocation stipend.

How will you get here?

  • Bachelor student completing their degree between December 2024 and June 2025 in one (1) of the following fields: Engineering or Business.
  • Coursework related to continuous improvement (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.)
  • Excellent facilitation, communication and presentation skills
  • Consistent track record of results demonstrating integrity, innovation, involvement, and intensity.
  • Energized through championing change, driven in getting results, and savvy in navigating ambiguity.
  • Ability to interact with and influence colleagues via excellent interpersonal skills.
  • High degree of emotional intelligence and strong professional presence.

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in California is $23.75–$26.50.
