Charles River Discovery are excited to be recruiting for an Animal Technician/Senior Animal Technician to join our Portishead, Bristol site on a permanent basis. The Animal Technician/Senior Animal Technician will be an integral part of a dynamic and flexible team that conducts a wide range of in vivo efficacy testing models as well as developing new in vivo models. This is an exciting time to join our team as we are expanding on our offering of disease models. Training will be available on site, as required. This role is site based and candidates will need to be able to travel to our Portishead site daily. 

What you’ll be doing: •    Providing a high level of animal care at all times, ensuring that the animal's welfare is a priority throughout the process. •    Administering drugs (through a variety of routes) and blood sampling with due care and attention. •    Performing other techniques as needed, again, in adherence to the strictest regulations. Training will be available on other techniques.  •    Maintaining highly accurate records at all times, escalating any problems to the appropriate team member. •    Work closely with other Technicians and Scientists' on projects to ensure models are viable.  •    Adhere to all health and safety protocols appropriately and to report any quality issues immediately.

Skills and Experience: •   Relevant Qualification in Animal Welfare or similar •   Holder of Home Office License; with experience of working with rodents or small animals preferred •   Proven husbandry experience, able to care for and handle animals under SPF conditions  •   Strong attention to detail with excellent communication skills •   Passion for animal welfare with a desire to maintain and enforce high standards at all times.  •   Excellent time management skills, able to prioritise tasks as needed and work closely with management to ensure proper care is always delivered to all models onsite.
