Discover Impactful Work:

Responsible for sales of microbiology products including brands such as Oxoid, Remel, TREK and Sensititre to industrial customers (including pharma and biotech accounts) in Quebec, British Columbia and Atlantic Canada (Newfoundland and Labrador, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island).

A Day in the Life:

  • Attain and exceed annual territory targets for the sales of market leading microbiology brands such as Oxoid, Remel and other laboratory products to designated accounts within a defined geographic territory.
  • Complete all territory administrative tasks in a timely manner including:
    • Record sales activity and customer interactions into Salesforce.com.
    • Create, maintain, and renew customer price quotations using quotation tools such as P360, and Impact. Negotiate RFPs and maintain contracts and existing agreements.
    • Respond promptly to customer requests for information and pricing.
  • Represent MBD Canada at scientific meetings, conventions, and industry functions as required.
  • Regularly exemplify the Thermo Fisher values of Integrity, Intensity, Innovation, and Involvement.
  • Liaise with local associations, regulatory bodies or other relevant groups as necessary in conjunction with sales management and marketing.
  • Gather pertinent market and competitor information and submit to sales management and marketing.
  • Collaborate effectively with all internal partners such as customer service, technical support, distribution, and quality control.
  • Work closely with channel partners to drive sales within the territory.

Keys to Success

Education:

  • University degree in Life Science, preferably Microbiology

Experience:

  • Experience of selling capital equipment and associated consumables preferred
  • 3+ years of consultative sales experience in a complex technical environment preferred or PhD with lab experience will be accepted
  • Relevant lab experience required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Approximately 50-75% travel will be required for this role (including overnight travel).
  • Must showcase excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and French.
  • Strong sales background and proven track record of success.
  • A strong desire to achieve and exceed company sales goals on a consistent basis.
  • Knowledge of the Canadian industrial marketplace and/or local industrial customer base is highly desirable.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and influencing skills.
  • An ability to identify business opportunities in relation to growth strategies.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Self-motivated, goal oriented, and able to work from a home office.
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license.
