Senior Manager Supplier Risk Management

Job Summary

BASIC SUMMARY:  

Self-directed Manager with strong ability to lead through influence cross-functionally to implement and optimize new supplier risk review capabilities (and participate in final stages of capability design). The individual will measure and evaluate the systems and processes and lead the relationship with the supplier review partner. The partnership will ensure process controls support the risk evaluation criteria, while minimizing the burden to the business and suppliers of Charles River.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Manage the tools and processes to ensure scalability and efficient delivery of the Supplier Risk Management program, including simplifying the supplier request process for business stakeholders and establishing process metrics and key performance indicators.
  • Serve as the liaison to key cross-functional stakeholders in the supplier risk review cycle. Ensure that all parties requiring review are supported by the system and provide review responses in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with Global Procurement Category Leaders to integrate risk management into category strategies. 
  • Facilitate the matrixed Procurement staff to support day-to-day program operations at the site, regional, and business unit levels.
  • Perform analysis of problems or stakeholder/end-user feedback. Investigate root-cause and implement process improvements to prevent reoccurrence to minimize future business disruption.
  • Establish and oversee the relationship with the third-party outsource/co-source partner(s)
  • Drive system integration between third-party outsource/co-source partner and CRL supplier system of record.
  • Drive cross-CRL systems integration to increase supplier visibility enabling business users to identify existing suppliers with necessary risk assessments/qualifications/certifications.
  • Optimize compliance value proposition through the ERP and peripheral systems.
  • Ensure Procurement alignment and due diligence to high-risk category Business Operating Procedures (BOPs).

Job Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education:  Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent in business, finance/accounting or a related discipline.  MBA preferred or other advanced degree.
  • Experience:  6+ years applicable leadership experience in process-oriented business function (finance or procurement preferred) with demonstrated success in evaluating and optimizing critical business processes, preferably in a life sciences company and/or multinational corporation.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
  • Other:   Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal, analytical, presentation, influencing skills required.  
  • Strong leadership and influencing skills with ability to drive results in a matrixed organization.
  • Effectively manages cross-functional change, is flexible, make timely quality decisions.
  • Able to effectively multi-task within the context of changing levels of responsibilities.
  • Must understand the positive impact of continuous improvement and process improvement and a strong commitment to using these business tools as appropriate, to enhance organizational excellence is critical to success in this role.
  • Basic understanding of ERP data management and data integration/transfer with peripheral systems

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • General office working conditions, the noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.

Comments:

  • This position requires occasional domestic and international travel. 

Compensation Data

The pay range for this position is $120,000/yr - $140,000/yr. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
