Position Summary:

The Sr. Manager R&D Material Scientist The R&D manager will be responsible driving innovation and collaboration of SUD  R&D with internal and external collaborators.  The manager will manage global organization and drive toward  large initiatives consistent with our 5 year strategic plan.  The manager will work closely with the CSO’s office to align with all corporate initiatives consistent within our sphere of influence.  The manager will drive Research teams alignment with corporate EIS results.   Other key responsibilities include:

  • Innovate new platforms for BU evaluations
  • Support NPI developments
  • Support all Quality related investigations requiring fundamental scientific acumen
  • Support manufacturing in trouble shooting exercises to mitigate product performance issues.
  • Collaborate with global organizations either Universities, Centers of Excellence, or government labs.
  • Publish trend setting documents for customer facing white papers, international conferences, or peer reviewed journals.
  • Establish a team of curious researchers whose passion is to discover what most necessarily solves our customers most pressing problems.

Preferred background/Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Science or Engineering field.
  • Management experience of 5 years or greater
  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience in Research and development in the life science or bioprocess market
  • Proven success in forming influencing interdepartmental relationships to achieve desire outcomes
  • Demonstrated leadership experience within a region or product line and an eye for business with analytical abilities to draw conclusions and observations from sales and market trends
  • Demonstrated excellence in oral and written communications skills, training, and public speaking experience, a requirement
  • Knowledge of bioproduction space and competitive landscape

Travel: Global travel is estimated to be 10% of the time, independently to customer sites, factories, trade shows, and meetings
