Objective

The Scientific Advisor is responsible to actively engage with Thought Leaders and to serve as the Therapeutic Area (TA) reference point within their geographic scope. The SA is responsible to design and deliver the medical plan, support the development of Brand Strategies in collaboration with commercial team by communicating medical insight and knowledge about the product or disease area, in particular with reference to patients’ needs and treatment trends.

Scientific Advisor provides medical educational knowledge on a specific therapy area in order to raise disease awareness and to support translating clinical research outputs into meaningful medical and scientific activities.

Responsabilities

External Environment and Customer Focus

  • Develops and maintains contacts with External Experts, in accordance with the strategy developed by the Company to further understand and gain both insight and/or input into treatment patterns, including (1) the scientific activities taking place within the Manager and (2) the needs and standards of care applied by health care providers.
  • Responds appropriately by providing accurate scientific data to unsolicited scientific questions or requests posed by Physicians for approved Products and for products in development in compliance with Company Policies, and legal and ethical standards.
  • Collect, analyse and present meaningful medical insights back to be actioned in support of the strategy development.
  • Develops scientific presentations (e.g., abstracts or articles based on secondary data). Such presentations should be reviewed according to the appropriate internal review processes to ensure medical accuracy and ethical and legal compliance.

Medical Planning/Execution

  • Deliver scientifically meaningful medical programs and ensure flawless execution of medical activities to support overarching medical plan execution.
  • Lead cross functional collaboration within matrix teams to ensure appropriate embedding of the medical perspective and aligned focus in key critical execution to achieve overall medical strategies and objectives.
  • Represent medical as a key reference point for internal stakeholders.
  • Works with the PV responsible to help ensure that all the information regarding AEs in the field is collected and reported.

Compliance

  • Endorse and implement a culture of compliance
  • Adhere to all internal and external rules and regulations
  • Alert management or the Compliance Department to any possible compliance issues
  • Act as a role model who demonstrates consistent ethical and professional behaviour.

Requirements

  • Advanced scientific degree (PharmD, PhD, MD)
  • Relevant industry experience in Medical Affairs. Experience in a customer-facing role with thought leaders preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross functional teams including commercial, regulatory and pharmacovigilance.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and strong interpersonal skills and presentation skills. Translating scientific into compelling messages to help physicians best serve their patients.
  • Highly organized and motivated individual possessing excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of oncology/Hematology scientific or clinical area.
  • Experience in working in the field with HCPs
  • Experience in the LATAM/CA health care environment & knowledge of local regulations.
  • Fluent in Spanish & English
  • Compliance & Integrity
  • Travel may be required (varies by geography)
