Studio clinico prospettico, randomizzato, con controllo attivo, in singolo cieco, multicentrico a due bracci paralleli che confronta il sistema di stent coronarico a rilascio di Everolimus XIENCE V® con il sistema di stent coronarico a rilascio di paclitaxel TAXUS™ EXPRESS2™ approvato e disponibile in commercio.

Descrizione
Criterio di inclusione:
- Le lesioni target de novo devono essere localizzate in un vaso epicardico nativo con diametro compreso tra 2,25 mm e 4,25 mm mediante stima visiva
- La/e lesione/i target deve trovarsi in un'arteria maggiore o in un ramo con una stenosi stimata visivamente >= 50% e < 100% con un flusso TIMI >= 1
- L'intervento percutaneo non in studio per le lesioni in un vaso non bersaglio è consentito se eseguito >= 90 giorni prima della procedura indice o se pianificato per essere eseguito > 9 mesi dopo la procedura indice
Criteri di esclusione:
- Lesioni target de novo situate in un vaso epicardico maggiore o in un ramo laterale che è stato precedentemente trattato con qualsiasi tipo di intervento percutaneo (ad es. angioplastica con palloncino, stent, taglio del palloncino, aterectomia) < 9 mesi prima della procedura di indice
- Lesione/i bersaglio restenotica/e da intervento precedente
- Lesioni target localizzate in un grande vaso epicardico che è stato precedentemente trattato con brachiterapia
- Il vaso o i vasi bersaglio contengono un trombo visibile
- Il paziente ha un'alta probabilità che sia necessaria una procedura diversa dalla pre-dilatazione, stent e post-dilatazione al momento della procedura indice per il trattamento del vaso target (ad es. aterectomia, taglio del palloncino o brachiterapia)
- Il paziente ha una o più lesioni clinicamente significative (stenosi > 50% del diametro) in un vaso bersaglio o in un ramo laterale per le quali può essere richiesto un intervento entro 9 mesi dalla procedura indice
