  Job Summary We have an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Technician II at our Discovery site located in Morrisville, NC.

Perform basic to moderately complex, preventative maintenance, construction, and machine repair of the physical plant. 

Essential responsibilities:  

•    Perform basic routine and moderately complex facility and equipment maintenance (e.g., basic skills and moderately complex construction, electrical, plumbing, painting, vehicle upkeep, floor/wall coating/painting, cage repairs).  

•    May operate in one area of expertise and only provide back-up in other listed duties and responsibilities.

•    Ensure coverage and monitoring to building, physical plant alarms (BAS), scientific equipment (Vaisala), support systems and security alarms as needed or directed.  Some on Call assignment will be required.

•    Security and Emergency Response Team member assists in implementation and monitoring of the security programs and systems. Secure facilities on a rotating basis.  Respond to after-hour security calls, as needed, or assigned,

•    Perform scheduled inspections/repairs on all facility systems.

•    Examine and troubleshoot machinery and equipment.  Disassemble machines and equipment and adjust, replace or repair broken or defective parts and pieces.

•    Inspect completed mechanical repairs for quality, safety, and proper operation.

•    Perform equipment calibration and preventative maintenance procedures as directed.

•    Clean assigned areas (Mechanical Spaces, Maintenance Yard, etc).

•    Maintain appropriate maintenance logs and other required paper documentations.

•    Participate in snow removal and ice remediation activities such as shoveling and spreading deicing agents on walkways and parking lots, where site weather conditions necessitate.

•    Assist in moving equipment and office furniture within the facility or between sites.

•    Provide guidance to less experienced/skilled maintenance workers.

•    Provides courier services utilizing company vehicle, when required. Job Qualifications The following are minimum requirements related to the Maintenance Technician II position:

Education:  High school diploma, General Education Degree (G.E.D.) or equivalent.  Additional training/education in construction, electrical, HVAC, plumbing desired.

Experience: 3-5 years preventative facility maintenance experience. 

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.

Certification/Licensure:  Valid driver’s license required 

Other:  Must be able to understand and follow verbal directions.  Must be able to operate assigned maintenance power tools and equipment.  Demonstrates the ability to troubleshoot and make decisions with minimal guidance.  Demonstrated proficiency in moderately complex assigned function(s).
