Osteopathische evaluatie van patiënten met niet-specifieke rugpijn: een observationele betrouwbaarheidsstudie tussen onderzoekers
Het doel van deze studie is om te bepalen of twee osteopathische beoordelaars met minder dan 5 jaar ervaring in staat zullen zijn om dezelfde locatie en aard van de primaire laesie(s) of beperking(en) te bepalen bij patiënten met chronische niet-specifieke rugpijn met behulp van een globale osteopathische evaluatiebenadering.

Rugpijn is een van de belangrijkste oorzaken van consultatie voor revalidatie.
Het stellen van een diagnose bij de initiële beoordeling van de patiënt is essentieel voor het kiezen van een specifiek behandelplan voor die patiënt, ongeacht het type therapie dat de patiënt kiest.
Evidence-based geneeskunde is de huidige gouden standaard voor de meeste beroepen in manuele therapie, en er is veel onderzoek gedaan in een poging om geloofwaardigheid te geven aan het enige hulpmiddel dat alle beroepen in manuele therapie gemeen hebben: palpatie.
Er zijn maar weinig onderzoeken die een acceptabele interbeoordelaarbetrouwbaarheid voor palpatie hebben kunnen aantonen.
Deze studie combineert een wereldwijd testregime, consensustraining voor beoordelaars en toegang tot de geschiedenis van letsel bij symptomatische proefpersonen om de interbeoordelaarbetrouwbaarheid van een osteopathische evaluatie bij patiënten met chronische, niet-specifieke lage-rugpijn te verifiëren.

Inclusiecriteria:
- Mannen en vrouwen van 18-60 jaar
- Moet een voorgeschiedenis hebben van niet-specifieke rugpijn (niet te wijten aan een bekende pathologie, bijv. hernia of degeneratieve ziekte van de schijf) die momenteel niet geïrriteerd is en dat ook niet is geweest in de afgelopen 8 weken
- Moet 3 uur aaneengesloten beschikbaar zijn
Uitsluitingscriteria:
- Patiënten met een bekende oorzaak van hun rugpijn
- Patiënten die in de afgelopen 8 weken een opflakkering van symptomen hebben gehad
- Patiënten die momenteel een revalidatie ondergaan of die de afgelopen 8 weken een manuele behandeling hebben ondergaan.
- Patiënten die dagelijks pijnstillers gebruiken
- Zwangere vrouw
- Ernstige medische aandoeningen: fracturen, degeneratieve artritis, ontstekingsaandoeningen, spondylitis ankylopoetica, multiple sclerose, kanker, verlamming, beroerte of recente hersenschudding
- Alle andere omstandigheden waardoor de deelnemer de evaluatie niet kan voltooien
