The Patient Advocacy Project Leader is an experienced project manager that supports the operational and strategic landscape of the Patient Engagement team and exhibits senior expertise in patient engagement. This role is critical in contributing to Parexel’s Patient First philosophy and optimizing the patient experience in Parexel-managed clinical trials.

The Patient Advocacy Project Leader position is a unique role at Parexel. In this role, they will deploy the Patient Advocacy Group (PAG) and patient community (PC) engagement service in order to support inclusion of patient feedback, enhance trial awareness and inform market access strategies. To accomplish this, the Patient Advocacy Project Leader will map and engage relevant PAGs and PCs, grow and evolve the offering and ensure excellent performance against business and project goals.

Patient Engagement Team Contributor

  • Demonstrates a deep understanding of Parexel’s current business offerings and stays current on all aspects of business intelligence. Continually challenges the status quo and encourages incremental improvements in strategy and efficiency of the Patient Engagement group. 

  • Communicates and collaborates with key global stakeholders to understand and manage their expectations and deliver according to business goals.

  • Solid presentation skills. Ability to summarize complex issues into key points, and present the issues, status, and/or recommendations with clarity.

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. 

  • Drives Patient Engagement team projects that improve efficiency, leads new service development, and evolves our offering to enable deployment of an industry-leading service.

  • Demonstrates strong leadership skills, setting an example for colleagues on excellence in patient engagement and mentoring junior colleagues.

SME & Project Management

  • Acts as a Subject Matter Expert in one or more areas to support the operational or business strategy of the Patient Engagement team

  • Accountable stakeholder, both internally and externally and represents Parexel at industry meetings and client presentations

  • Responsible for direct oversight of patient engagement projects and the delivery of solutions according to contract specifications

  • Contributes to the overall strategy of the Patient Engagement team including best in class service offering development, technology development and engagement of internal and external stakeholders

New Business & Financial Support

  • Required to provide support to the Parexel business operations group in establishing reporting standards, metrics or establishing the costs of new service offerings

  • Responsible for budget management for all assigned projects

  • Acts a point of contact for strategic partnerships and key client relationships

Product Development

  • Generates ideas for new Patient Engagement tools and services by maintaining a keen interest in competitive intelligence, liaising with internal stakeholders, reviewing new regulatory guidance, assessing new industry tools for patient engagement and reviewing KPI data to recommend improvements of existing services

Deliver PAG Engagement

  • Research, map, and profile the most relevant PAGs and PCs for an indication/region in line with the corporate strategy and specific sponsor requirements
  • Engage appropriate PAG and PC representatives, building and maintaining relationships over time
  • Monitor and evaluate engagement with PAGs/PCs
  • Create and update Parexel PAG/PC communication materials on an ongoing basis
  • Support the business with key insights and deliverables from PAG/PC activity Continually scan the landscape to ensure awareness of key PAG/PC engagement developments

Embed Internal Capability

  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with internal partners and communicate accordingly. Ensure cross-functional collaboration with Medical, Marketing, Sales, Compliance, Commercial and other key partners to optimally manage relationships that ensure alignment and effective execution of the PAG/PC strategy.
  • Engage internally with sales team to position Parexel as a key partner of choice for clients through thoughtful and informed involvement in pre-award activities
  • Operationalize PAG/PC engagement strategies
  • Use patient insights learned from the patient representatives and serve as internal champion to incorporate patient perspectives into all appropriate initiatives

Sponsor Engagement & Relationship Management

  • Provide PAG consulting service to sponsors on starting, maintaining, and
  • leveraging engagement with PAGs activities to enhance their patient insights, recruitment, and market access activities
  • Support data gathering and analysis from PAGs/PCs before distilling and sharing key information with sponsors
  • Attend relevant PAG/PC organization events and meetings. Share key takeaways with internal stakeholders
  • Support monitoring and evaluation of engagement with PAGs/PCs
  • Promote Parexel’s ‘Patients First’ philosophy with strategic PAGs/PCs

Knowledge and Experience: 

  • 7-10 years of pharmaceutical and/or CRO experience including but not limited to areas of focus in patient recruitment, project leadership, clinical operations and/or sales

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in patient advocacy role or other relevant experience in the health care industry

Education

  • Educated to the degree level (biological science, pharma or other health related discipline preferred

  • Master's degree preferred
