IMPORTANT:   In order to be considered for this position, a resume/CV must be uploaded and submitted during the application process.  Please make sure work history and education are added correctly.  Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Research Scientist (Staff Ophthalmologist)  for our Ophthalmology department at our Safety Assessment site, located in Mattawan, MI.

A Research Scientist is responsible for: performing eye exams in multiple species spanning rodents, small, and large animals; dosing test article via ocular injection; collecting specimens; observing, documenting, and interpreting study data; providing expert consulting to Study Directors and clients; writing contributing scientist reports; and researching new animal models for studies. The individual in this role may function as a Contributing Scientist, Principal Investigator, and/or Study Director. Job Qualifications

The minimum qualifications for the Research Scientist (Staff Ophthalmologist) include, but are not limited to: Bachelor’s/Master’s/PhD/PharmD/DVM/MD degree or equivalent in related discipline; with 2 or more years of related industry experience. Diplomate, American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists (DACVO) Board certification preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of ocular anatomy and physiology of common laboratory animal species, common human ocular diseases and compounds currently used for management of these conditions. Experience in: ocular dose administration techniques, specialty ocular diagnostic, and imaging techniques is a plus but not required. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing at all levels inside and outside the organization. Basic familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite. Computer skills, commensurate with Essential Functions, including the ability to learn a validated system.
