Cytogenetic Technologist II (1st Shift)

INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA (USA). Labcorp Biopharma Solutions is seeking a qualified cytogenetic technologist for a position in our Indianapolis Central Laboratory Services (CLS) location. We support global clinical trials testing across laboratory disciplines with standardized processes and instrumentation at locations across Europe, Asia/Pacific, and the United States.

This role entails leadership and launch of FISH testing capabilities in Indianapolis. Responsibilities include validating and conducting FISH testing, microscopic reviews, ensuring quality control, and collaborating with a global team to enhance departmental and client interactions. Success in this position will lead to development and expansion of the service, provision of a wider variety of assays, increased operational scale, and further leadership and management opportunities.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate on global trials involving FISH testing, and support anatomic pathology and histology, including cross-coverage duties.
  • Perform FISH processing, probing, and scoping; review and prepare microscopic cases for pathologist confirmation.
  • Review and approve new test feasibility requests, assist with providing quotes, and evaluate method modifications for improvements.
  • Develop and implement FISH scanning capabilities; integrate these into the digital pathology image management system and facilitate global team involvement in case reviews.
  • Contribute to the development and approval of validation plans for new methods, instruments, and reagents; participate in process improvements.
  • Participate in investigator meetings and client visits, involving occasional travel.
  • Train junior personnel and contribute additional expertise in anatomic pathology and histology.

Education and Qualifications:

  • Baccalaureate in a Biological Science with one year of experience.
  • Qualification to conduct FISH testing and perform microscopic reviews is required.
  • CG (ASCP) certification is desirable.
  • Experience is desirable but not required.
  • Ability to effectively interact with clients at meetings and conferences is valuable.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are valuable.
