We are looking for an Assistant Facility Manager to join our Insourcing Solutions team, located in Bethesda, MD.

What you will do! 

In this Assistant Facility Manager role, you will use existing SOPs and quality assurance standards to oversee and coordinate the daily activities of the animal facility, to include scheduling of staff. You will provide animal husbandry support; quality assurance (e.g.: animal health surveillance, facility sanitation, cage washing and autoclaving procedures, monitor incoming animal shipments for container integrity and animal health, monitor HVAC); and environmental enrichment for colony animals, as well as operate and maintain equipment and supplies, and perform general housekeeping. You will oversee all aspects of husbandry support and the animal surveillance program, as related to the husbandry staff; and work with various staff members to resolve customer requests, inquiries, and concerns. This role will perform technical support functions required by research protocols, such as daily clinical observations and preliminary health exams of sick animals. You may also be asked to offer support such as restraining animals, blood/tissue collection, performing injections, treatments, surgical preparation, and assisting with research procedures. You may also be tasked with assessing training needs, as well as developing and presenting training for staff and investigators, in addition to participating in interviews, developing performance improvement plans, and writing employee performance evaluations. 

Who are we looking for?

A candidate that possesses a high school diploma or GED is required, along with a minimum three years’ experience working in a laboratory rodent and rabbit facility. A minimum two years’ supervisory/leadership experience highly desired. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above. AALAS certification at the Laboratory Animal Technologist (LATG) level required. 

The pay range for this position is $32.00 - 35.00 USD per hour. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
