En fase-IV, langsiktig, observasjonssikkerhetsstudie i pasienter med nyresykdom i sluttstadiet behandlet med lantankarbonat (Fosrenol)
Pasienter som har blitt behandlet med Fosrenol i minimum 12 uker sammenhengende og som får dialyse, vil bli fulgt i 5 år for å sammenligne dødelighet, benbrudd og forekomst av utvalgte sykeligheter til pasienter uten lantaneksponering og til pasienter som behandles for hyperfosfatemi med evt. markedsført produkt.

Pasienter for gruppene for historisk kontroll og samtidig behandling vil bli valgt fra United States Renal Data System (USRDS).
Testgruppen vil bestå av pasienter som har hatt minimum 12 sammenhengende ukers eksponering for Fosrenol (lantankarbonat).

Inkluderingskriterier: Testgruppe
- Signert informert samtykke
- Pasienten må ha ESRD og være i dialyse
- Tidligere behandling med Fosrenol i minimum 12 uker sammenhengende
- Primær betaler av helsetjenester må være Medicare (pasienten må oppgi Medicare-kravnummer)
- Pasienten må være 18 år eller eldre
Eksklusjonskriterier: Testgruppe
- Pasienter som ikke oppfyller inklusjonskriteriene
