Frysing av eggstokkvev for bevaring av fruktbarhet hos kvinner som står overfor en fertilitetstruende medisinsk diagnose eller behandlingsregime: En studie utført av National Physicians Cooperative of the Oncofertility Consortium at Northwestern University

Kvinner som ennå ikke har gjennomgått denne prosedyren, og som presenterer for fertilitetskonsulentene som ønsker å bevare fruktbarheten, vil bli tilbudt å delta i studien.
Forsøkspersonene vil gjennomgå et første besøk som vil inkludere blodprøvetaking, ultralyd og eventuelle tilleggstester eller undersøkelser som er medisinsk indisert for pasientens diagnose som forberedelse til operasjon. Forsøkspersonene vil deretter gjennomgå en ooforektomioperasjon (fjerning av en eller begge eggstokkene). Etter fjerning vil forsøkspersonens eggstokkvev frysekonserveres (fryses) og lagres for mulig fremtidig bruk. Vi planlegger også å samle inn sykehistorieinformasjon for forsøkspersoner for å gå inn i en forskningsdatabase. Forsøkspersonene vil bli fulgt til de bestemmer seg for å bruke vevet sitt til fertilitetsformål.
Vi vil også i ettertid registrere kvinner som allerede har gjennomgått denne prosedyren ved å kontakte dem via post og tilby deltakelse i vår database for ovarievevskryopreservation.

Inklusjonskriterier:
- Kvinne mellom 18-41 år som vil gjennomgå kirurgi, kjemoterapi, medikamentell behandling og/eller stråling for behandling eller forebygging av en medisinsk tilstand eller malignitet som forventes å resultere i permanent og fullstendig tap av påfølgende eggstokkfunksjon eller har en medisinsk tilstand eller malignitet som krever fjerning av hele eller deler av en eller begge eggstokkene.
- Pasienter kan ha nylig diagnostisert eller tilbakevendende sykdom. De som ikke var påmeldt på tidspunktet for første diagnose er kvalifisert hvis de ikke har mottatt behandling som anses som sannsynlig å resultere i fullstendig og permanent tap av eggstokkfunksjon.
- For pasienter som gjennomgår elektiv fjerning av en eggstokk kun for bevaring av fruktbarhet, ha to eggstokker.
- Pasienter som allerede har lagret kryokonservert eggstokkvev i frossen tilstand før de gjennomgår kreftbehandlinger (kirurgi, kjemoterapi eller stråling) vil være kvalifisert for innmelding med informert samtykke.
- Signert et godkjent informert samtykke og autorisasjon som tillater utgivelse av personlig helseinformasjon. Pasienten og/eller pasientens lovlig autoriserte verge må bekrefte skriftlig at samtykke for prøvetaking er innhentet, i samsvar med institusjonelle retningslinjer godkjent av U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
Ekskluderingskriterier:
- Kvinner med psykologiske, psykiatriske eller andre tilstander som hindrer å gi fullt informert samtykke.
- Kvinner hvis underliggende medisinske tilstand øker risikoen for komplikasjoner fra anestesi og kirurgi betydelig.
