Inclusion Criteria:
- ASA physical status I and II patients
- Undergoing general anesthesia for elective surgery
Exclusion Criteria:
- Known allergy to esmolol or lidocaine
- Chronic pain
- Pregnancy
- Withdrawal of consent by the patient
