Beschreibung
Einschlusskriterien:
- Die Patienten mussten sich in der Notaufnahme mit einer Hauptbeschwerde über Kurzatmigkeit vorstellen, definiert als entweder das plötzliche Einsetzen von Dyspnoe ohne Vorgeschichte einer chronischen Dyspnoe oder eine Zunahme der Schwere der chronischen Dyspnoe in den letzten 48 Stunden;
- Anwesenheit eines Notarztes mit Lungen-US-Erfahrung zum Zeitpunkt der Einschreibung;
- US-Untersuchung innerhalb von 30 Minuten nach Beginn der klinischen Bewertung.
Ausschlusskriterien:
- Dyspnoe-Fälle, die eindeutig weder kardiogen noch respiratorisch bedingt sind, werden als nicht förderfähig angesehen.

Nach der initialen Diagnostik (Anamnese, körperliche Untersuchung, EKG, arterielles Blutgas) wird der Notarzt die Dyspnoe in kardiogene oder respiratorische Dyspnoe einordnen und in einer bestimmten Form (Klinikform) niederschreiben.
Unmittelbar danach wird ein Lungen- und Pleura-Ultraschall durchgeführt: Der Arzt wird es beschreiben und die Ätiologie erneut bewerten (integrierter Bewertungsbogen).
Dann wird für jeden Patienten eine Röntgenaufnahme des Brustkorbs durchgeführt.
