Descripción detallada
El propósito de este estudio es evaluar el efecto de un medicamento de gama de ojos, lacripep, sobre la curación de heridas en la córnea (el tejido transparente que cubre el frente del ojo) como visto después de un trauma relacionado con incidental o combate, o desde cirugías oculares como la queratectomía fotorfractiva (PRK). Este estudio ayudará a comprender si LACRIPEP es un tratamiento efectivo en la curación de la superficie ocular y la recuperación visual a exceso de velocidad después de la lesión.
Los participantes deben ser un miembro del servicio de servicio activo elegible para la atención en un centro de tratamiento militar.

Criterios de inclusión:
- Hombre o mujer, de cualquier raza, 21 años y mayores
- Miembros del servicio militar estadounidense de servicio activo elegible para la atención
- Deseando una corrección refractiva de miopía de hasta -4.00 diopters (d) esfera con o sin astigmatismo 0 a -1.50 d y hasta -4.00 d equivalente esférico manifiesto en ambos ojos
- Refracción estable durante el año pasado como lo demuestra un cambio en el equivalente esférico refractivo manifiesto de ≤ 0.50 diopters (D) en ambos ojos
- CDVA de al menos 20/20 en ambos ojos
- Elegido para someterse a PRK bilateral
- Capaz de cumplir con los requisitos de seguimiento durante hasta un período de 6 meses después de la operación
Criterios de exclusión:
- Profundidad de ablación calculada de más de 75 micras u otras condiciones en cualquiera de los ojos que a juicio de los investigadores requerirán el uso de MMC profiláctico
- Signos de miopía inestable o progresiva, queratocono o queratocono sospechoso en cualquier ojo
- Hallazgos topográficos corneales anormales en cualquier ojo, por ejemplo, queratocono, degeneración marginal pelucida
- Tratamiento dirigido a la monovisión
- Signos y síntomas de ojo seco basados en: (a) Puntuación total de tinción de tinción de fluoresceína corneal ≥4 en la escala del taller de la industria del Instituto Nacional de Eye (NEI)/Industria en cualquiera de los ojos, (b) Puntuación de prueba de Schirmer anetetizado ≤5 mm/5 minutos en cualquiera de los ojos, (c) Puntuación de síntomas ≤40 utilizando la evaluación de síntomas en la cuestión (Sando) en cualquier ojo en cualquiera de los ojos, (c)
- Sujetas mujeres embarazadas, amamantando o tienen la intención de quedar embarazadas durante el estudio. El embarazo y la lactancia materna son contraindicaciones para la cirugía refractiva en general, incluida la PRK, ya sea participando en este estudio o no.
- Enfermedades oculares residuales, recurrentes o activas o anormalidades corneales en cualquiera de los ojos, como iritis, uveítis, queratoconjuntivitis sicca, queratitis herpética, conjuntivitis vernal, lagoftalmos, cicatrización corneal, enfermedad de la membrana del basemento anterior, erosiones recurrentes recurrentes, glatir cataratas
- Cirugía corneal o intraocular previa en cualquier ojo para fines refractivos o terapéuticos
- Medicamentos tópicos o sistémicos concurrentes que pueden afectar la curación, incluidos los corticosteroides, los antimetabolitos, la isotretinoína (Accutane®), el clorhidrato de amiodarona (Cordarone®) y/o sumatriptán (IMITREX®) (otros medicamentos en la misma familia que IMitrex aún se permitirán))
- Las condiciones médicas, que, a juicio del investigador, pueden afectar la curación, incluida, entre otros, la enfermedad vascular de colágeno, la enfermedad autoinmune, las enfermedades de inmunodeficiencia y el herpes ocular Zoster o simplex.
- No se inscribirán las personas que no son legalmente competentes para proporcionar consentimiento informado (por ejemplo, individuos incapacitados, discapacitados cognitivamente). Todos los sujetos deben dar su consentimiento para participar en el estudio

Eficacia de lacripep
Periodo de tiempo: La evaluación del espesor epitelial se realizará a los 4 y 7 días después de la operación que a los 1, 3 y 6 meses después de la operación.

Para determinar la eficacia de LACRIPEP para la curación de la herida corneal, el grosor epitelial se medirá utilizando la tomografía de coherencia óptica (OCT).
OCT es una técnica de imagen no invasiva que utiliza ondas de luz para crear imágenes detalladas de estructuras de tejido.

La evaluación del espesor epitelial se realizará a los 4 y 7 días después de la operación que a los 1, 3 y 6 meses después de la operación.

Para determinar la seguridad de LACRIPEP, el retorno de la agudeza visual de la distancia corregida (CDVA) se medirá utilizando la prueba de agudeza visual de alto contraste.
El retorno de CDVA se definirá como porcentaje de ojos con no más de 1 línea CDVA perdida de la línea de base preoperatoria.
