Inclusion Criteria:
- Asplenia
- β-thalassemia major
- older than 18 years
Exclusion Criteria:
- no previously recorded allergy to PCV
- no intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) given within the previous 6 months
- no other vaccine given within the previous 6 months
