Beschreibung
Einschlusskriterien:
- Alter ≥18 Jahre
- Isolierung des M. avium intracellulare-Komplexes aus einer respiratorischen Probe in den vorangegangenen 6 Monaten
- Erfüllen Sie die Kriterien der American Thoracic Society (ATS)/Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) für MAC-Lungenerkrankungen
- Absicht des behandelnden Arztes, eine MAC-Lungenerkrankung zu behandeln.
- Fähigkeit, innerhalb von 16 Stunden eine Sputumprobe von mindestens 10 ml zu produzieren
- Unterschriebene Einverständniserklärung des Probanden
Ausschlusskriterien:
- Vorherige Behandlung von pulmonalem MAC innerhalb der letzten 6 Monate
- Schwangerschaft
- HIV mit Differenzierungscluster 4 (CD4) <350
- Vorgeschichte einer soliden Organ- oder hämatologischen Transplantation
- Kontraindikation für Azithromycin
- Hat eine andere Bedingung, die nach Meinung des PI die Einwilligung nach Aufklärung ausschließen, die Studienteilnahme unsicher machen, die Interpretation der Studienergebnisdaten erschweren oder auf andere Weise das Erreichen der Studienziele beeinträchtigen würde.

Experimental: 14-Tage-Azithromycin-Monotherapie
Für die ersten 14 Tage der Therapie erhalten die Teilnehmer Azithromycin 250 mg oral (PO) täglich als Monotherapie.
Nach Tag 14 erhalten alle Teilnehmer eine leitliniengerechte Standard-Mehrfachtherapie für Mycobacterium avium Lungenerkrankung, wie von den behandelnden Ärzten festgelegt.
