Szczegółowy opis
Potencjalnych długoterminowych korzyści, toksyczności i innych niepożądanych skutków nowych terapii przeciw HIV nie można ocenić w ramach czasowych większości badań klinicznych. Istnieje potrzeba lepszej oceny zarówno pozytywnych, jak i negatywnych późnych wyników i późnych efektów leczenia u dorastających dzieci. To prospektywne, podłużne badanie oceni efekty i ich wpływ na dzieci.
Dzieci w tym badaniu będą obejmować pacjentów zakażonych wirusem HIV, którzy byli narażeni na HIV lub leki przeciw HIV przed lub w czasie ich narodzin, lub dzieci pacjentów obserwowanych w ośrodkach Pediatric AIDS Clinical Trial Group (PACTG). Dzieci będą miały wizytę studyjną co 3 miesiące do pierwszego roku życia. Po ukończeniu 1. roku życia dzieci zakażone wirusem HIV nadal będą odbywać wizyty studyjne co 3 miesiące, podczas gdy dzieci niezakażone wirusem HIV będą miały wizyty studyjne raz w roku. Oceny badań będą obejmować pełne badanie fizykalne, historię medyczną, stopień zaawansowania Tannera, badanie neurologiczne, ocenę wzrostu i jakości życia oraz testy laboratoryjne, takie jak hematologia, chemia i analiza moczu. Nie wszystkie oceny będą przeprowadzane podczas każdej wizyty studyjnej. Pacjenci będą obserwowani do 24 roku życia.

Kryteria przyjęcia
- Wiek 21 lat lub młodszy (wymagana zgoda rodzica lub opiekuna, jeśli nie masz 18 lat).
- Spełnij 1 z następujących 3 wymagań: 1) zapisałeś się na poprzednią wersję tego badania; 2) narażonych w okresie okołoporodowym na HIV, szczepionki przeciw HIV lub leczenie antyretrowirusowe (należy zapisać się przed pierwszymi urodzinami); 3) zakażone wirusem HIV niemowlęta, dzieci i młodzież (oraz ich potomstwo) obserwowane w ośrodkach PACTG.
Kryteria wyłączenia
- Niezdolność do przestrzegania harmonogramów wizyt studyjnych.
