ネックラップは、一連のチューブを介して水循環装置に接続されます。
脳の温度は、磁気共鳴画像法 (MRI) を使用して非侵襲的に測定されます。
この研究に参加する被験者は、理想的には互いに7日以内に、MRI研究センターへの2回の研究訪問を完了するよう求められます。
訪問の 1 つの間に、冷水 (実験グループ) がラップを通して循環されます。
他の来院時には、体温の水 (アクティブコンパレーター) がラップを通して循環されます。
どちらの場合も、水の循環時間は 2 時間です。

健康な成人は無作為に割り付けられ、頸動脈を覆う首の前部に貼られた粘着性ラップを通して冷水または体温の水を120分間循環させる介入を受けた。
最初の介入の後、被験者は別の日に症状を克服しました(つまり、寒さから体温に、そしてその逆)。
脳温度は、MR 体温計を使用して 1 分間隔で測定されました。
