集合住宅における禁煙住宅政策は有望であり、喫煙と間接喫煙への曝露を減らすための介入がますます広まっています。 低所得者向け集合住宅における禁煙住宅政策の順守を改善する要因を特定し、対応するソリューションをテストした研究はほとんどありません。
提案された無作為化比較試験(RCT)は、知識の主要なギャップに対処し、主要な科学的機会を次のように利用しています。 2) 2 つの新しい治療法をテストすることにより、ポリシーの実装を超えて禁煙ポリシーの遵守に関する理解を拡大します: a) 居住者の禁煙と b) 居住者の支持、3) 人口および場所固有のタバコ関連の格差に対処する。

- マンハッタンとブロンクスにある NYCHA の建物 (区ごとに均等に階層化) で、50 戸以上あり、大規模な改修は行われていません。
建物の除外基準:
- マンハッタンにもブロンクスにもない地区の建物
- 50戸未満の建物
- 大規模改修中の建物
- Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD) または Permanent Affordability Commitment Together (PACT) の一部である、またはその一部となる建物
- 混合金融の建物

参加者の包含基準:
- NYCHA の住人を、グループごとの目標人数 (建物ごとに喫煙者 4 名、非喫煙者 4 名) に達するまで、ドア ノックとロビー インターセプトによって募集します。
- 居住者は、喫煙状況についてスクリーニングされます。 喫煙者と非喫煙者の両方を募集しますが、アパートごとに喫煙者または非喫煙者の参加者を1人だけ募集します。
