子どもの副次的な経験(ACE)は深刻な公衆衛生問題を構成し、青少年のほぼ半数と米国の成人の60%以上に影響を与えます。
高いACES暴露(すなわち、4つ以上のACE)は、自己測定(つまり、認知、感情、行動の管理課題)をもたらし、アルコールと物質使用の早期開始(例:自己メディケーション仮説)およびその他の生物心理社会社会的につながる可能性があります心代謝リスク(たとえば、心拍数の変動性[HRV]の低下、体重と血圧の増加、睡眠障害)、感情的および/または認知調節不全などの反応。
自己診断に起因する健康の不平等は、エースへの不均衡に高い曝露を経験するマイノリティ化された貧困集団の中で最も高く、青年期の初期はアルコールと薬物の実験が起こる時代です。
薬物を実験するすべての青少年が後に物質使用障害と診断されるわけではありませんが、早期(すなわち、14歳の前に)と定期的に従事する人はより大きなリスクがあります。
4つ以上のエースを持つ若者は、ストレスに対する認識と反応を形作る慢性で予測不可能なストレスを特徴とするユニークなタイプの逆境を経験する可能性があります。

YRBSSは、アルコールや大麻の使用に関する質問など、健康行動の歴史を収集する多肢選択調査です。
YRBで過去30日間に物質使用を報告する若者は、過去30日間のタイムラインフォローバック法評価(TFB)を完了します。
TFBは、最近のマリファナ、タバコ、アルコール、その他の薬物使用を評価するために使用されます。
14項目の自己管理TFBは、回答者に、行政日の7日から2年前の指定された期間にわたって毎日の薬物を遡及的に推定するよう求めます。
TFBは、物質使用の変化を含む、物質使用のさまざまな定量的推定値を取得するために使用できます。
